My birthday is in a couple of months and I would like to plan a 1920's Chicago gangster party. Do you have any ideas for activities, music and food. I already thought of music from the movies Bugsy Malone and Chicago, for example.

I do not like the taste of bacon that has been microwaved and cooking it on the stove top is so messy, I would like to know a different proven way as my whole family looks forward to their bacon and eggs on the weekend!

wonder how long can you keep cooked food in fridge (like pasta, rice, vegetables etc - i'm vegetrian so it contains no meat or fish)? i usually try to eat it within 2-3 days (otherwise i freeze it), it seems alright, but can it be kept refrigerated for longer?
shop bough chilled ready meals are usually good for a week or even more, even if ingredients don't list any preservatives. will my own cooked food last that long?

I have one of those tall narrow kettles and from the moment I switch it on it is very noisy, so that I can't hear the radio. I'd like helpful suggestions, please, not put it in another room or turn the radio up.
