I have one of those tall narrow kettles and from the moment I switch it on it is very noisy, so that I can't hear the radio. I'd like helpful suggestions, please, not put it in another room or turn the radio up.
Thanks

aside from putting the thing in a styrene box..(which I have been tempted to do)....I have cut a round out of sponge rubber and put it underneath the kettle, that has halved the noise for me..hope it works for you...good luck....

Its the gas escaping from the water and reverberating off the sides of the kettle that makes such a noise (mines the same).
Only possible solutions are changing the kettle - some are quieter, or using 'flat' mineral water.

I'm not sure what make they are but i have seen ones that are designed to be quieter than normal ones.

Why not have a look in the Argos catalogue I'm sure you'll be able to find one there.
