We urban dwellers are directly and indirectly responsible for the reduction of vegetation cover, thanks to over-consumption and a luxurious life...In this light, is it right to protest against tribal land rights-nailing them for forest loss?

I'm in the odd position of knowing a fair bit about permaculture, as we use it in our design and management of the farm, but have very little idea about other design principles and how they stack up against permaculture, so how does it compare?

We have bought a house which has a waste disposal system installed in the sink. We use it for vegetable peelings and food left over on plates etc.

Is this a "green" way of disposing of vegetable material? My garden is too small for a composter, and in any case I'm not sure I could find the time or energy to deal with one. So the question is is a waste disposal system better than putting the rubbish into bags and letting the council take it away?

Instead of continuing to waste and deplete the earth by going and buying everything from stores. This means getting rid of most stores except art stores and one major food store that gives the rations.

I am writing a paper, and need to conduct a public poll.

Basically, all the computers and other electronic equipment that ends up in our landfills are causing serious harm to our environment. Some states offer rebates on your taxes for recycling, some companies offer the recycling for no cost to the consumer, some charge a fee to recycle the equipment.

How many of you are aware of such programs in your state ( or if you live in another country, programs where you live) that accept used electronic equipment for recycling? If you answer yes, have you ever used these services? If you answer no, are you aware of the effects on the environment from disposing of electronic equipment in landfills or in burned in incinerators?

we could turn Gitmo into a giant processing plant that could grind up terrorists and convert them into ethanol which we could use to power our vehicles. this would help us to get rid of the terrorist problem and it would solve the fuel crisis, since there are plenty of terrorists; enough to last hundreds of years.

Came across this interesting article on Tiny Plastic Wind Turbines that can be placed on rooftops and balconies in crowded cities. Cost very little. These turbines generate electricity which gets stored in cells and can be used to power appliances.

Are such products being installed some place?

What are the costs involved? Installation, maintenance?

I watched a program where some scientists were pursuing Nuclear fusion as an alternative to oil. The result: unlimited and clean energy.

However, whatever company solves it first, will they have sole ownership? They will easily become the richest and most powerful corporation on Earth, isn't this both unfair and dangerous?
