We urban dwellers are directly and indirectly responsible for the reduction of vegetation cover, thanks to over-consumption and a luxurious life...In this light, is it right to protest against tribal land rights-nailing them for forest loss?

True that we city dwellers are the ones who want all the luxuries for which most of the times a forest is decimated by a tribal, but unless we start protesting against those land rights, there would soon be no land to protest for. Do you think the tribals have the political clouts or the monetary benefits to preserve the forests on their own?

Its kind of a catch-22 situation.

Since you don't own the property you have no voice, no say in how that land should be used.
