Are you REALLY coping with all the recycling or finding it tiresome?

I think the worst part is sorting it into the right bin, but I must admit, the household waste is much less.

Recycling is great . . . if at the other end IT IS being recycled. So many local councils and private companies have been caught dumping recycled waste into landfill sites, that I wonder why we bother. Think it is a better idea to invent some contraption to sort it at the other end and we don't have to . . . makes much more sense.

Quite frankly, I think the whole idea is a bit over the top. Where I live in London, we already get TWO "timed" rubbish collections every day (including Christmas Day believe it or not!) and on top of that there are "Recycling" runs on most days - and even a garden refuse wagon once a week. In addition, there are extra collections if any rubbish is deposited during the day, and although this isn't right in the centre of London where collections are practically continuous, I've even seen them collecting at 2.30 in the morning! It's nothing to see rubbish being collected at 4.30pm, followed by another one at about 5pm, then another at 6.45pm - and they're all under the "6.30" collection - yet even then, local residents STILL have the nerve to put rubbish out AFTER these times, and I assume that this accounts for collections taking place during the night ! The council also take away unwanted 'white goods' and furniture in response to phone calls, and in general do an excellent job in keeping the streets in this part of London free from any accumulation of rubbish, so if THEY can do it without all this nonsense about recycling (although they DO provide these bins at strategic points anyway), I fail to see why all these other councils have the audacity to impose once-fortnightly collections in the name of forcing residents to 'recycle' when all the time we see the results of this in the media - rodent and insect infestation, smells, and health issues, so if everybody told their councils to shut up with all this nonsense and get on with the job of clearing refuse instead of telling us what to do, the place would be all the better for it. People have better things to do than sort their rubbish - that's why we pay council tax - so that the professionals can do it for us.
(Sorry this is a bit long, BUT....) On the other hand, with all these rubbish lorries going round town all the time - even though they're allegedly "environmentally friendly" whatever that's supposed to mean - what does THAT say for pollution - but never mind, Westminster City Council ALWAYS know what's best.......... ! ! !

NO problems No bins either.. A black sack for non recyclable stuff which goes weekly, Not a lot in it now.... APink sack for paper, tins, plastic bottles , aerosols,fabrics etc.. Goes fortnightly..... A white degradable sack for green stuff like lawn mowing's, prunings, flowers ,,, goes fortnightly.....and an orange crate for bottles and glass, any colour, which again goes fortnightly.... All works smoothly no problems .. The black sack I store in a dustbin in the garden , also the bottle crate and white bag is in the garden....The pink bag is in the conservatory,,, Easy to get to with the papers and so on ... Evert thing is collected don't have to take anything anywhere,,,

my council only collects glass, steel tins and paper and then they dont come regulary. the neighbouring villages can recycle almost everything. We dont bother anymore. ive worked in scrap metal all my life i understand recycling very well, which is why i know its a waste of time when you consider all the extra fuel, man hours and money that is wasted. the council yards are very inefficent my local one had 6 peopple operating a can sorting machine we had the same machine in my yard operated 1 person. Now you know why your council tax is so much

its tiresome! at work, we have turned into a recycling office which is stupid. our office is huge, and we now have just 3 bins to share and to sort our rubbish into between around 300 people. its a nightmare, esp when u have a bag of crisps or a quick snack at ur desk, between phone calls. u cant leave ur desk everyitme u want to put something in the bin, and so it mounts up on ur desks until the end of the day. we used to each have our own bins, but no more.. and people are quite frankly, fed up of it!

I'm fine with the recycle bags at home, easy to sort out, but I've not got the time to take my old clothes, shoes n bottles to the recycle station, i don't know why we're not allowed to put it all in one bag,

This is the reason I like the system we have much better. I just throw everything in one bag, the rubbish company sorts out the trash after they collect it. They make money from what they salvage and I only pay $15/moth for them to pick up my trash!

I think it is something that our local politicians should do for us instead of milling about and voting on bills they havent read. This would cause them to actually earn the money they raked in. Lobbyist of course can and should join in if they want to get a goofy new law passed.

We can put all recyclables in one bin (paper, plastic). So I have one bin for recyclables and one bin for garbage. We have to pay for our garbage to be taken away so recycling saves us money because they take that for free.

It was a pain, but I'm used to it now. It's become second nature. Besides it's my husband who does most of the sorting & putting out
