Recycling. How do they do it?

In my apartment building we put all the recyclables, i.e. plastic bottles, paper, glass bottles etc. in one container. How do they separate it all at the recycling facility?

They pay people to sort it out.

at the recycling center that my husband works at he would have to sort through it and seperate it out.
