Instead of transporting bottles of drink from out-of town stores to our homes, if every street corner had a bar we could walk to, would that reduce carbon emmissions?

Vast factories, huge fleets of lorries, consumers loading bottles into their cars; recycling and landfill of glass and plastic etc.
Tap water is cleaner and cheaper. So, should bottled water be banned?

Here's the 10 year moving average temps...

2007 - 14.607°C
1997 - 14.481°C
1987 - 14.274°C
1982 - 14.182°C
1977 - 14.093°C
1967 - 13.987°C
1957 - 13.976°C

In the last 50 years temps have increased by 0.631°C and by 0.426°C in the last 25 years. Could this be a natural cycle and if so when did temps last increase at this sort of rate?

I have several times seen the claim that it is? Is this an accepted fact? I would be most grateful for some references. I have heard that global warming in increasing moisture in the air can increase precipitation. Is this a possible cause? Is increasing mass of Antarctic snow/ice (assuming there is an increase) of any significance in terms of possible rises in ocean levels? Is it incorporated into climate models?

What can we do to get policy-makers to implement a forward-thinking strategy?

The media wont publish / print the story about what they should be doing! It's "too controversial" they say! The media are all part of the conspiracy to rip us off, aren't they? All they want to do is make money out of our misery!

Not sure what happend.

Im in a debate. The coin didnt end on my side. I have to debate that global warming isnt real. We do this for fun.

Im getting blasted with scientific data. Here are my 2 arguments so far. I could back them up okay.

1. Planes flying. They leave a contrail. Thus the sun's rays bounces off the contrail and it keeps the earth cooler. This was proven during 9-11 when all the planes were grounded.

2. I think all vegetarians should eat cows. Cows make alot of methane gas with their poop. If we ate more cows we would have less poop. Less methane, less ozone.

As you can tell, Im on the wrong side. I need any help. Those were the only 2 things I could think of that made sense. That actually had scientific data. I need help.

Dont get me wrong im not debating what I think, Im debating a side that I lost. But I still want to win.

Assuming that solar cells can be made inexpensively and are efficient (I know this isn't the case), wouldn't the cells absorb the energy that would otherwise be reflected back into the atmosphere? Also when I mean large, I don't mean square feet, but several square miles of solar cells.

If climate change turns out to be as big a deal as emerging evidence suggests, then GWB's legacy in history may focus on the 5 years delay caused by his opposition to green policy changes. He perhaps risks being seen as big a historical bogy man as Adolf Hitler if many cities are flooded. Or perhaps we don't think his influence is that great?

Does anyone know of any good sites for those who know little or nothing of the science behind GW. I have been duped by a sceptic wanting just such information, I answered with the basics, as did others, only to get laughed at. I have found from a question of my own that there is a need, or at least a percieved need, for such a basic website.

Democratise GW knowledge, or suffer the consequences of the next 'dark age'.

Increasingly I feel - they don't believe, it doesn't matter.

Not one jot, not one tiny iota. They are the last vestige of a disinformation campaign which has left them behind, in much the same way as the last stragglers of McCarthy's propaganda still look for communist conspiracies and check for reds under the beds.

What matters is that the centre ground of public opinion has shifted enough, and while the world is warming up, the ever shrinking number of die hard deniers...is simply in the cold.

Is it even remotely important to expend any effort at all convincing them?

The Solar Influences Data Center in Belgium just issued an all quite alert.

http://wattsupwiththat.wordpress.com/2007/10/15/all-quiet-alert/

"One thing is certain, based on past climate history and solar history, if in fact the suns magnetic activity slows, or collapses and we enter a prolonged period of little or no sunspot activity, we’ll see a global cooling trend. There are a number of theories about and a couple of dozen predictions about solar cycle 24 which has yet to start. One paper by Penn & Livingston in 2006 concludes:
