Recycling plastic often saves it being dumped in landfill sites.

It saves in the consumption of a non renewable resource, crude oil.

It prevents the emission of the greenhouse gas CO2 which would be involved in the production of new plastic.

Climate change can cause both droughts in some areas and extra rain in others, and in any event single weather events may well not be linked to climate change.

There is no relation between the drought and recycling, so keep recycling! It's always better to recycle. As to the comment above about how we shouldn't pay to have things shipped for recycling, I would like to say that we don't recycle and try to live green for the monetary benefit - we do it for the planet's health, if you will. So, it doesn't matter if we have to pay someone else to do it - it's what needs to be done for everyone.

YES[!!!!] you should always recycle plastic no matter what becuase it is not biodegradable, which will hurt the earth BIG TIME. By recycling plastic, you reduce the amount of energy that is needed to produce other plastic materials.
I don't think the drought should have any effect on recycling matters, does it? I don't see how they relate ...

Not quite sure what the basis to the question is. Is it that recycling uses water and therefore when water is scarce we shouldn't recycle?

If so, it's not a very sound argument as recycling uses less resources, including water, then producing plastics from raw materials (oil). Bottom line, if you want to conserve water supplies then recycle. Better still, reuse, then no additional water is required.

No. Only one type of plastic (milk containers) can be recycled in this country. All the rest is shipped in containers to China for recycling.
This to me renders recycling plastic very uneconomical and I think the whole recycling issue is just one of councils obtaining grants and creating worthless jobs, worldwide.
Why should I pay £1000 couuncil tax and sort and store the rubbish for them?????

sorry, I fail to see a connection? since when recycling plastic has an effect on the climate, especially rain.

How is one related to the other? You are arguing apples and oranges.
