Global Warming

our evil greenhouse gases, carbon footprint, and other emissions that have been proven to contribute to the warming of precious planet Earth? This is human-caused global warming at it's most elemental and literal sense, and we really need to filter this out, just like the fossil fuel power plants. It's only fair.
Point source polution control is humanity's only chance of survival. Only you can prevent our doom.

There are various opinions being bounded about by several countries and populations. It would be easy to swipe at your Government's opinion but I would welcome your own...

My standpoint:
I am English, I try to be good in terms of the Environment but i'm not as perfect as i'd like to be. I like the fact that our Government and economic industries at least make an effort to try and make amends.

I'm in Essex in England, and in recent years the trees have taken a long time to lose their leaves. I remember a few years ago noticing how a lot of the trees still had a lot of their leaves by this time of year. But this year I have noticed that they were pretty much mostly gone by the end of November. And today there was frost and ice about and the wind has been quite bitter. Has anyone else noticed things being more normal and does anyone know of any articles on the the weather this winter, supporting or opposing my observation?

why do other countries think they need to get involved in figuring out how to remedy the problem? In other words, why shouldn't these biggest polluters figure out how to fix it, on their own, without being pigeonholed into UN and EU mandates?

(I do understand that ALL world countries reap the consequences of global warming. However, this does not mean that ALL countries have a legitimate argument about the costs that will be paid by these biggest polluters.)

"Nobel laureate Al Gore accused the United States on Thursday of blocking progress at the U.N. climate conference, and European nations threatened to boycott U.S.-led climate talks next month unless Washington compromises on emissions reductions."

"The United States, Japan and several other governments are refusing to accept language in a draft document suggesting that industrialized nations consider cutting emissions by 25 percent to 40 percent by 2020, saying specific targets would limit the scope of future talks.

European nations said they may boycott a U.S.-led climate meeting next month unless Washington compromises."

"Gore urged delegates to reach agreement even without the backing of the United States, saying President Bush's successor, who will take office in January 2009, would likely be more supportive of binding cuts."

I'm getting worried about the climate change, every morning on my way to work, i saw birds digging up unwanted plastic bags near the rubbish-chute searching for food, i guess there's no longer foods around for them from the trees, it's so so sad, so what i did was every morning, i brought some food for them and feed them and that makes me happy already...but then deep inside of me i'm so sad with the climate change i'm still worried thinking about the future...(sigh)..

so many discussions, so many negotiations, so many forums, so many reports and reporters, so many presidents and people around the world, why is it US refused to do it? to handle the climate change like the others? their country is so big, and yet so scrooge and yet they make other poor countries and animals suffer with the climate change, they talk only but no action.... i think i'm going to hate them already...

We know that climate change has occurred in the past, we also know that climate has been relatively stable over the past 10000 years.

I believe that this relatively stable climate has allowed human civilisations to flourish over this time. Climate change, hotter or colder, by more than a few degrees would have disasterous effects on our society.

Should we be focussing on how we can manipululate the earths climate to maintain (as close as possible) temperatures and sea levels or is this beyond our capabilities and therefore we must learn to adapt ?.

Since America The biggest Emitter of Carbon Emissions i.e. Polluter", does not believe in "Global Warming" as evidenced by blocking agreements in Bali., much like their position on slavery, land mines, cluster bombs and Kyoto, as they use arguments like, "there is Climate change on Mar"s, Uh! we don't live on Mars! and "this is a cyclical change, how do they know., where they here during the ice age? much like the arguments and B.S. for the wars they started to steal oil. Since Americans love their Guns and Humvees, and killing each other, as evidenced by the shooting rampages in Shopping Malls, churches and High Schools I say we encourage them.,
Not, to change sign up for agreements on Climate Change, but to support their bids to carry guns like "Cowboys", so they can shoot and killl each other whenever they like, and when they are all gone, they will have done their part in saving the planet. America Style. A good Idea?

It seems Americans are the leaders in global warming denial, http://www.worldpublicopinion.org/pipa/articles/home_page/187.php?nid=&id=&pnt=187&lb=hmpg1
How many people will have to die before you understand that man made global warming is real? Do they all have to be Americans, or will people being killed in Bangladesh be enough to convince the holdouts?

Please explain what happened to end the Ice Age ? Green
house gases from industrialization and SUV's certainly didn't
cause it to end. Obviously, man had nothing to do with that, so why suddenly is man the cause of global warming ? I think it is
all a huge scam by scientists to continue receiving grant money, thereby justifying their existance. Your thoughts ?

Burning one less candle will cut Hanukkah C02 emissions by 15gm. each.

Getting divorced results in 38 more million rooms around the globe to heat, light and cool according to a Michigan State University study.

Rearing cattle produces more greenhouse gases than driving cars according to the UN Nov. 2006 report.

Don’t forget about the study from the University of Alberta where getting rid of all the old beer fridges often found in North American and Australian homes could have a significant impact on household greenhouse gas emissions.

In another even fresher such academic report, a report in the Medical Journal of Australia cites a professor arguing that every couple with more than two children should be charged a $5,000-plus "baby levy" at birth and an annual carbon tax of up to $800 a child.

Just last year, scientist were claiming that the ice on Antarctica was melting, and the Earth would be hundreds of feet below water.

By just waiting a year, we now know that the ice sheets on Antarctica are growing, and now there is more ice than average.

We are being told that global warming now moved north and is melting the arctic ice. We're told that the ice will be gone, the polar bears will be extinct, world will be underwater, blah, blah, blah, blah....

Now NASA has determined that global warming has very little to do with the melting ice caps. That ocean currents that are decadal in nature, rather than trends caused by global warming are the cause of the ice caps melting.

NASA also predicts that the currents are now changing and that the ice caps will return to normal without us doing anything.
