I'm getting worried about the climate change, every morning on my way to work, i saw birds digging up unwanted plastic bags near the rubbish-chute searching for food, i guess there's no longer foods around for them from the trees, it's so so sad, so what i did was every morning, i brought some food for them and feed them and that makes me happy already...but then deep inside of me i'm so sad with the climate change i'm still worried thinking about the future...(sigh)..

You obviously don't realize the reason the birds are eating out of the dumpster.

If you had the option to eat twigs or to eat steak which would you choose?

There is still plenty of food available in the birds' natural environment, however it is easier for them to consume human trash since:
a. it is collected into one easy to reach location,
b. it has better taste and,
c. it is easier to detect using smell.

Birds will eat what ever is available to them. They are very opportunistic. I went through the drive through at McDonalds last summer and then parked in the parking lot to eat and this bird, I think it was a grackle, flew up on the hood of my car about a foot away from the windshield staring at me until I threw a french fry on the ground. Then that bird and two others swarmed it. You should go sit in the woods sometime and watch all the birds. They are fat and healthy where I live.
Birds in the city will take advantage of human waste. Birds in the country eat a more natural diet. The good Dr. Jello is correct about nesting material. Birds don't eat plastic.
If the plastic bag had bread crumbs inside, the bird has probably learned to open the bag and was taking it to a location where other birds would not steal it away.
