Just last year, scientist were claiming that the ice on Antarctica was melting, and the Earth would be hundreds of feet below water.

By just waiting a year, we now know that the ice sheets on Antarctica are growing, and now there is more ice than average.

We are being told that global warming now moved north and is melting the arctic ice. We're told that the ice will be gone, the polar bears will be extinct, world will be underwater, blah, blah, blah, blah....

Now NASA has determined that global warming has very little to do with the melting ice caps. That ocean currents that are decadal in nature, rather than trends caused by global warming are the cause of the ice caps melting.

NASA also predicts that the currents are now changing and that the ice caps will return to normal without us doing anything.

Thank you, when FLOATING sea ice melts at alarming rates it is more than likely the water doing the warming, and not trace gases in the atmosphere.

they only stepped forward the technologies to degree the quantity of Arctic ice interior the Seventies. considering at that factor they have been panicking approximately worldwide cooling, you may assume the ice at that factor could be thicker than it fairly is now. The globe has certainly warmed and as you may assume, that is melted some ice. The question is - will it proceed to get heat as Al Gore's action picture envisioned or will that is extra like the UN IPCC kind or will it particularly go right into a cooling era? Of the three, i think of we are staring on the third probability, reasonable to intense cooling lasting for some years and with lots worse effects than warming. I assume the refrain to p.c.. up that music interior the subsequent 12 months or so if that is authentic, yet I think of they're going to discover the only answer is for the UN to flow forward and take over what you could and could't do on a on a regular basis foundation, comparable to with warming.

Trevor - in the first paragraph, it says "The results suggest not all the large changes seen in Arctic climate in recent years are a result of long-term trends associated with global warming. "

Of course, I take this to mean that global warming isn't causing ALL of the melting of the polar ice caps, but it could be responsible for some or a lot of the melting. It just shows that the earth's climate is an extremely complex thing to get a handle on. It doesn't prove or disprove anything.

Good article though!

Attack: Pope Benedict criticised climate-change prophets of doom
Pope Benedict XVI has launched a surprise attack on climate change prophets of doom, warning them that any solutions to global warming must be based on firm evidence and not on dubious ideology.

The leader of more than a billion Roman Catholics suggested that fears over man-made emissions melting the ice caps and causing a wave of unprecedented disasters were nothing more than scare-mongering.

The German-born Pontiff said that while some concerns may be valid it was vital that the international community based its policies on science rather than the dogma of the environmentalist movement.

His remarks will be made in his annual message for World Peace Day on January 1, but they were released as delegates from all over the world convened on the Indonesian holiday island of Bali for UN climate change talks.

The 80-year-old Pope said the world needed to care for the environment but not to the point where the welfare of animals and plants was given a greater priority than that of mankind.

How is it possible to read a NASA report that says X, Y, Z and translate it into saying A, B, C. Either you've included the wrong link or you're making things up to suit yourself.

"Now NASA has determined that global warming has very little to do with the melting ice caps." Where does it say that?

"That ocean currents that are decadal in nature, rather than trends caused by global warming are the cause of the ice caps melting." Whare does it say that?

"NASA also predicts that the currents are now changing and that the ice caps will return to normal without us doing anything." Where does it say that?

If you have to resort to rewriting facts, distortion, lies and a campaign of misinformation then it clearly shows you have absolutely no credible arguments at all.

I do believe that Global warming is happening, but I am yet to be convinced that it is caused by mankind, I am more worried about what we are doing to the environment in other ways and what impact that will have on the earth in which we live such as over farming deforestation, over population and polluting areas to get the resources we need.

Global warming is just one issue that effects us today no their are too many people saying different things to make any kind of real answer the situation, it all seems to be opinionated with very little or unreliable data to back it up.

I wish I knew more but I watch and read things about the subject that contradict each other all the time so its really annoying that still no one has the definitive answer.

What I do know now is that a huge industry is developing under the fear of it and it is starting to become big business worth Billions which is a good thing weather it is true or false but don't expect Govenments to admit it is all a load of rubbish when we rely on the green industry for our economies sake!

I assume you mean "Are the Arctic Ice Caps Mentoring..."

Well, of course they are. They are trying to persuade small icebergs to become ice caps also by setting a good example and offering guidence.
