what I mean is that , it seems no matter how good you are today, people will dissect your work looking for anything to compare past artists to you and knock you down?

Ex - if you really listen to the Stones and with a cynical ear , you'll notice they were just good songwriters, to me they are gods but if anyone today plays a tele through a twin reverb, you're automatically a Keith Richards wannabe and you're ripped to shreds in hipster mags

Or is just that all rock today sucks?

2) Name the pop/psych song, and the pop/psych band that once featured the 70's prog rock musician.
3) Name the Scottish 70's hard rock group that covered and re-popularized the song.

Freaking hilarious. Yeah, yeah, yeah I know it’s all about the money. But still, you gotta be kidding me. How many morons actually plan on buying a book from one of the worst parents around? Does this woman have no shame? I’d be humiliated no matter what they paid me if I were her. She did such an awesome job of raising young Britney. So what is this equivalent to? This would be like a seminar by Charlie Sheen on how to have safe sex.

I can't believe I'm admitting this, but when I was growing up I, along with a friend of mine, had a huge crush on Mike Reno from Loverboy. I don't know if it was the red leather pants, the wrist and sweatbands or both, but we both thought he was hot.

When I see him now, even see pictures and videos of him from back then, I have NO idea what I was thinking.

Do you remember who your first musical crushes were? Are you willing to share them with us?

(This question was inspired by Jani Lane, I think he needs to turn in his leather pants and call it a day...)

...The Krautrock band were very popular throughout Europe in the 70's, and toured with the likes of Deep Purple, Golden Earring, and Steppenwolf.
The American band were one of the most successful groups of all time, and earned several gold records during their career.
1) Name the Krautrock band.
2) Name the US band.
3) Name the album which both bands collaborated on together.

Here's a tiny hint; The German band had a hit in Europe during the early 70's with a song originally written and performed by the American group 'Steam'.

I heard "Funkytown" by Pseudo Echo today on the radio, and it dawned on me that their only chart hit was a remake of an already horrible song by Lipps, Inc (also a one-hit wonder, ironically enough).

Anyone else?

who does 'Paint it Black'? the really popular one of it. i searched it and got a bunch of songs called that, the dominance held by The Black Dahlia Murder. I'm not sure how old it is or anything, but it was obviously very big at some point. i was probably still under a rock, or if it's old then not born yet. can u please help a bit? thanks. ^_^
btw, i know it's rock, so don't suggest like a rap or country song or anything. i know what i like already and certainly what i don't, i just wanna hear the song. ^_^ thanks!

Besides Ozzfest '06, the HELLYEAH concert I seen Oct. 30 was the best concert I have been too. Bloodsimple blew the roof of the place. OTEP put on an awesome show too. Then HELLYEAH, just tore the place apart. Anyone else have a concert experience they want to rate as the best?

When you REALLY first started broadening your music horizons, what was the band (or plural) that started it all for you?

I have 3: Radiohead, Sparta, and At the Drive-in did it for me.
