Rush - Hemispheres concert, Long Beach Arena, California.

I was introduced to Rush not long before the concert by listening to a friends records. ( Records, how long ago was that! )

I thought that they were okay.

Then I went to the Rush concert. From then on I was hooked.

And then this weird thing happened in the parking lot. There was a truck outside, and people were preaching with a megaphone on top of it. They were preaching Jesus Christ. I was not a Christian, and it would be several years until I was. But I heard some in the crowd, they looked like agents in the Matrix, they were saying out loud, " Oh, those are Christians! Better not listen to them, they are crazy!" Then I said to them, " They are not crazy if they are they are doing what Jesus said to do."
. . . . . . . . . . . . .
Then I wondered "Where did that come from?!" I wasn't going to church, nor was I even a borderline believer, and didn't talk about it it really. But that had to come from somewhere. What did I know about it? Not much, if anything.

So I account my experience that night as a real blessing as I look back, I found my new favorite rock band, and I also was used by God's Spirit, even though I had not yet obtained peace with Him. A weird but wonderful night!

there are many... i guess my favorite was when I saw Primus open for a band called 24-7spyz in a small club called the River Rock Cafe in Buffalo NY in 1989, that was an amazing show! Man Les Claypool rocks my socks! but there were so many good shows.... The ButtholeSurfers in 1991 they played a little club in Cleveland OH the lightshow for that concert nearly burned out my retnias, Janes Addiction 1990 in Rochester was a really great show. Red Hot Chili Peppers in a College Cafeteria ( Student Union Hall B.S.C.) in 1989... yeah I am old... I just recently saw They Might Be Giants in Louisville KY and they still have it, they put on a SUPER show! They played all my old faves, and some great new stuff!

Lollapalooza 1992. I saw Pearl Jam right before they rmade it real huge. I have never seen a band steal a show like they did. Eddie Vedder was incredible with such intensity. I was on the 5th row and it was the best music experience I have ever had. They blew away the Red Hot Chili Peppers and the other bands.

-Sorry SMAC but if PJ was so "HUGE." Why did they go on early in the day at 3 pm (2nd band to perform after lush)? Before Ministry, Jesus and the Mary Chain, Soundgarden, Ice Cube, and headliners: Chili Peppers. I honestly think they got bigger and bigger as that tour went on. Watch below!

I would have to say the first time I saw the Rolling Stones.

The coolest one I ever heard about happened to a friend of mine. He spent a year studying in Paris, this was probably 1987 or 1988. A little-known American band by the name of REM was playing in some bar in Paris. It was a weeknight and there were a grand total of twenty people in the place. Since it was such a small place, the band sat at a table between sets and drank pitchers of beer. He got up the nerve to go over and say hello. Since he was the only one who spoke English the band invited him to join them for a couple of rounds.

I've been to quite a few hair band concerts and I rate them all as being the best. There is NOTHING better seeing a good hair band live!

Also, Alice Cooper (not a hair band but was big during the hair band era) puts on an incredible show. Not just because of his theatrical displays but also because his singing is right on key.

Sorry JH.... but Pearl Jam was already huge by that tour. Ten came out 1 year before. I remember that Lollapalooza. Try the 1993 show w/ Primus, RATM, Alice in Chains, and Tool.

It's a tie between Pantera/White Zombie (1996) and RATM(1997) would be mine.

Ok JH I see your point...but why did Pearl Jam play Saturday Night Live before that tour? No small bands play that show. We'll just have to agree to disagree on this one. It was April 22,1992.

Althought I dont listen to them anymore because of thier bitter break up antics over petty stuff. I still acknowledge them as one of my bigger influences as a rock musician. Good luck
