What are some common misconceptions you'd like to clear up or that bother you?

This one doesn't bother me per se, but it is commonly held that the Ramones are the first punk band, which is incorrect. If you have a loose interpretation of what punk rock is then you could go back as far as say The Sonics, a stricter interpretation you could say the Stooges, stricter still and you'd say Television, Patti Smith, or the Dictators, but none of those are who I mean, their sound was getting closer, but it still wasn't quite straight forward "punk". So most people pinpoint the Ramones as that first band to really have the full blown raw, fast, loud punk sound, but there was one band that beat them to it that too many people overlook. Over in Australia, a band called the Saints formed that encapsulates punk rock just as well as the Ramones with rough raging guitars and youthful energy and attitude. While the Ramones may be my favorite band, the (still existing) Saints deserve their crdeit.

There are certain bands that even if you never heard one od their songs, you knew it had to be them because that band has such a distinct sound.

So what are some bands that have such a distinct sound (not just vocally) that there is no way you can mistake them for another band?

Boston and The Doors for me

This song is constantly played on every "good" station in my local scene, even ROCK STATIONS. Not only does this song suck, it's not even rock (obviously).

Do you support my opinion, and why?

Hasn't anyone noticed that rockers where the most stupid outfits? Go to youtube and look up some Van Halen video's. It's obvious David Lee Roth is a fruit.

Rockers are also drug induced losers.

They've always been seen as the "vital creative guiding voices" of music ... but a lot of good bands today are doing just fine producing their own work. It will surprise me, though, when an indie label band still takes on a producer.

I just never understood how a person, who almost often has never picked up an instrument himself (or herself), can exert so much creative control over a band - and get paid an insane amount of money to do it!
