I would pick, like, the 80's, like, the music was so hit me with a spoon. HA HA! But seriously, the 80's had Madonna, Phil Collins, Cyndi Lauper, and so may other great artists.

I would say the 90s. The 80s are great, but the 90s are just as good in my opinion. I was more into pop before the millenium started, and before that a lot of new and supposedly great artists started to flood in, and it was pretty great. But for some reason I think that good music is hard to find on the radio or on MTV nowadays. Maybe because my taste in music has evolved into more of MY taste, rather than the decade's taste in hits.

I'd have to concur that the 80's was far and away the best decade for pure pop music. Don't forget about Michael Jackson, the king of pop.

The 80's pop is incredibly fun. I always get a giggle listening to Wham!, The Thompson Twins, Cyndi Lauper, and Kenny Loggin's "Footloose". There are so many 80's one hit wonders, it's hard to name them all. They may not be the best songs in the world, but they should get some credit for being fun.
Who ya gonna call? Ghostbusters!

80's here too. but more with the Power Pop scene with the likes of The Dream Syndicate, Guadalcanal Diary, The Neats and Wire Train. Also some more purer Pop forms of Joe Jackson and Moon Martin.

For me it was the 60's. The Beatles and Pet Sounds by the Beach Boys just for starters. Throw in the Yardbirds, Kinks, Buffalo Springfield, Animals, Donovan, even Mo Town had it going on. 60's had lots of plush songs. Dylan, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin all started in that decade.

50's

Doo-Wop all the way.

along with Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Dean Martin, and Bill Haley and his Comets, which all were heavy influences on rock music.
