Name bands whose names just don't reflect in their style of music ...

For example: Eagles of Death (David Grohl's side project - certainly not a death metal band)

What class would you teach?

I guess mine would be "Required 80s Metal Listening".

It would cover the period from 1983 - 1992 with an emphasis on the LA scene and MTV's Headbanger's Ball. It would also cover influences and follow-ups on the major acts of the period.

You could take all, well SOME of these kids who come here asking *legit*, but sometimes clueless basic question about rock music could all be sat down & made to watch a comprehensive, in-depth History of Rock documentary? Like, the birth of rock (1950s) all the way to today. & I'm talking All genres covered just so no one gets left out.

To my eyes, too many of them have no idea where their music came from.

Just hadda ask/rant. Don't mind me. I'm done.

The rest of the questions seem rather boring today...
At least I'm trying.

I'm going to go with The Ramones. The differences between Joey and Johnny were astounding1
If your not familiar: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ramones...
It's amazing they stayed together as long as they did.

Psychedelic Rock and it's relation to hippies. How did this genre help to define or sustain this group?

Seriously. Celine Dion is playing a show here in Columbus and Ticketmaster is reserving the best seats at $1000 to $2000 a ticket.

http://www.ticketmaster.com/exchange/05003F67DE798F8F/?sort=price&page=2

Not that I would EVER go see Celine in concert... but I'm using this as an example. Another example would be Hannah Montana. Parents are paying out thousands to get tickets to see her show. Why?

So, what's your threshold? How much would you pay to see your favorite band?

Just a question for everyone?
What are your favourite hard rock songs from the 70's upward to today? Name of song and artist?
I'm just looking for some ideas on what to look for with music downloads to extend my collection of music from Queen to Guns n Roses.

Of guitarists that are still with us, he is my favorite. He just barely comes out on top over Clapton. I mean, just the way the guy completely wails on the those big, beautiful hollow-buddy Gretsch guitars is aw-inspiring. And to think he almost never uses any pedals or distortion, he gets it all from the guitar. Guy is freaking amazing.

Just tell me what old school Beatles records you have. If you have them all, then just name the ones you like best (I know that is extremely hard, but try!)!

The records I have are:

- The Beatles 1967-1970 (The Blue Album)
- Beatles '65
- Introducing... The Beatles (it's a fake one, but it still plays the songs!)

I'm not really a fan of Rob Zombie, and the few parts of songs I have heard I didn't like very much... but... I am a HUGE fan of the band's guitarist, John 5, and they are touring in my area for a while, so I was hoping I might make another go at the band's music. Can anyone recommend some of their favorite (and recent) songs from Rob Zombie? Any songs with a really good melody or chorus, or a guitar riff by John 5, would be great!
Just something that isn't all yelling and whining (my usual impression of Rob Zombie). Who can enlighten me? Any suggestions?? Thanks!
