Jeremy posted this question about borrowed CDs that were never returned, and it inspired my question:

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AqLfILqRwfBf4C30h_frVyTsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20071203151238AAhS63C&show=7#profile-info-31sPPNpTaa

Right before I moved to Cleveland briefly in the '90s I went down there to visit for the weekend, and while I was there my car was broken into. I'm not even going to get into the damage done to my brand new system, but while these punks were in there they stole 15-20 CDs of mine. There was a time when I could rattle off every one that was taken, but I can't do it so easily now. I can tell you this, though...some of those CDs have never been replaced.

It doesn't necessarily have to be from theft (maybe you keep all of your music in MP3 format and something happened to your hard drive, etc.), but has anything like this happened to you? Have you ever lost a considerable amount of music at one time? Have you replaced any of what is missing?

What're some really good, kick a.ss *recent* rock bands (trust me, I got the old stuff covered) :)

I recently did this w/ metal & screamo & got lots of great replies & links to good Youtube vids.

This time I'm doing it w/ metal's older brother- hard rock. (& not so hard rock too actually)

Thx & Fire away!

I've recently noticed that there are a lot of Tree fans here... so I want to see how many of us will actually answer this question.

Real Questions (answer as many or few as you like):
1) What is your favorite PT song?
2) What is your favorite PT album?
3) How long have you been listening to them?

2007-12-03 13:59:10 · 4 answers · asked by Justin R 4

... what song would it be, who would perform it, what genre would it be and why?

I'd like Sisters of Mercy [gothic rock] to do a twist on "Blood" by Babes in Toyland [punk/grunge/riot grrl]. It'd be an /interesting/ contrast from the original.

Hopefully this is clear enough..

You?

I see oodles of questions always asking "What's your favorite band?". I'm curious to see what band you absolutely detest.

For me, it's Genesis. I don't know why, but I just can't stomach 98% of their work. Ick.

Okay... we know MCR is probably the most talked about band here, but how about in your real life? What band/artist is most talked about by the people that surround you?

Mine in FOB. I get my daily giggle in the locker room after gym as a group of girls talk about how godly FOB is. And my friends are big fans on FOB and they have been talking non stop about them (and a friend recently went to a FOB concert and that only fueled more conversation...)

Who was the more artistically talented or adventurous group? That means no talk of popualrity or how much press they got because it has nothing to do with anything whatsoever. Who was the more inventive and innovative team?

Let me repeat for good measure, who was more popular and who sold more records has nothing to do with this question and needs not be brought up for any reason.

Please explain your reason with as much detail as possible, I'd like as few one line answers as possible. And it would probably be a good idea to refrain from answering if you don't know much about one or the other band.

And most of all let's keep this civil, a nice clean well thought out argument for your side that I think has the most valid points will get the best answer.

Go.

There are plenty of Beatles cover songs out there, but which ones do you think actually does the original justice? It doesn't have to be better (it probably isn't) but was actually really good?

My favorite: Rufus Wainwright's cover of Across the Universe
