Okay... we know MCR is probably the most talked about band here, but how about in your real life? What band/artist is most talked about by the people that surround you?

Mine in FOB. I get my daily giggle in the locker room after gym as a group of girls talk about how godly FOB is. And my friends are big fans on FOB and they have been talking non stop about them (and a friend recently went to a FOB concert and that only fueled more conversation...)

You?

LOL, the Soulja Boy thing is pretty bad. At my school about 100 kids gathered together to do the Crank That dance... *shutter*

Muse06: Congrats on the Badge :0)

Isis: Lucky you! I would say country's much better than Soulja Boy :0P

You don't know how many times I've wanted to rip my ears off my head as i've walked down my school corridoors and heard;
"YOUUUUUUUUUUUU".
That Souja Boy song seriously needs to go away forever. That's all i bloody hear about.
To top it off, there are people that attempt the silly dance too..
-sigh-

Hey Sarah,

People are aware of FOB and MCR where i'm from, but i cant really think of anyone who likes them. Out of the 700 students who were in my school, there was less than 10 emo people, who were known as 'goths', so they were basically the only people i knew of who liked them. The most popular bands seem to be The Killers, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Snow Patrol and Arctic Monkeys. Kings Of Leon are the main band here at the moment though. Everyone loves them, even my mother.

Rap seems to be out of style now here too. It was popular for about 2 years and thats it

P.S Notice anything different about me?

Soulja Boy seems to be a faster wide spreading disease than MRSA.
I've witnessed the dance, I've heard the emo version, is the country version next?!
I swear if I hear it one more time, I'll bleed out the ears.
Another band I hear about alot... Every Time I Die. Now what kind of name is that? And the music! Just constant screaming and insanity! What is with people these days, sure I'm an angry person but that music just makes me want to punch babies.

Fall Out Boy and Panic! At The Disco are up there, but the top is the Arctic Monkeys. My sister is in love with them, and I never understood why.

But nearly everyone else I'm around, it's always Fall Out Boy this, Panic! that, or Marilyn Manson something else. I swear I'm living in a world of pod people.

And I'm planing an assasination plot of Doom for Soulja Boy. Some people tried to teach me that dance: halfway through I put in my Ramones CD and started jumping around (and made a few 'rude' hand gestures at them when they tried to change my disk).

o RBD does go around my block, but people here really talk about rap and want to be gangsta music. Although rock and metal are more know end than others parts around here. I just what to shoot every person that is either insulting metal in a "rap stick" as they call them, or say metal and rock are for the gay. Well, I really don't have a problem with gay people and i really don't care if the Pink Floyd shirt has rainbow colors. I mean really, will you rather have demonica goth combat boots, or some ugly big black shoes with stars and sparkles that aren't even a brand.

Where I live, it's country and southern rock. Lynyrd Skynyrd, Johnny Cash, Hank Williams Jr. and so forth are really big here. That's who I hear the most about. Guns N' Roses is pretty big as well...

Edit: Oh, I forgot Loretta Lynn! She's huge, especially since she's from here. George Jones visits a lot as well...like I said, country and southern rock.

Edit again: haha...I actually like country music, so I'm fine with it :-)

And I don't even know who Soulja Boy is...never even heard of him (is it a him or a band?)

Here we have a trash pop phenomenon called RBD ( for Rebelde). They are Mexican and so successful, we don't understand why, cause they don't sing, don't dance are ugly and mediocre in every way. My kids are kind of outsiders due to the fact they despise that kind of garbage music products. They listen to good music, rock and classical since they were babies. But RBD are triumphant all over the world it seems, even more than Menudo or Timbiriche back in the 80 and 90ies. They are on every cookie package, soda pack, cereal, soap..... unbelievable.
Their producer must be a genius....

I live near Gulf Shores, AL, and Jimmy Buffett's sister owns a seafood restaurant here, so he's always the talk of the town....I love Jimmy, though, so it doesn't really bother me. Aside from that, at work, it's mostly Matchbox Twenty, the ladies are mostly around my age (thirtiesh) and still drool over Rob Thomas....I like them, I just don't drool :)

This is tough one..........there's EVERYTHING here....... among the members of younger crowd that I mentor its Tegan and Sara, Brand New, Paramore

The closer i get to the city its soulja boy, keisha cole, alicia keyes and a lot more rap/hip hop/r&b.

All along Comm Ave (Commonwealth Ave) theres a lot more metal, punk and classic rock...........Boston is just a melting pot.....

Soulja Boy.

"Soulja Boy up in this-" GOD SHUT THE HELL UP YOU STUPID GODD**N F***ING B**** WE KNOW YOU'RE UP IN A F***ING HO DO YOU REALLY THING WE GIVE A RAT'S A** YOU B****????????

Um... sorry. Just clearing my throat. :)

But honestly, that's my reaction when I see kids thinking they're cool going around singing that excuse for a song. We even heard it in assembly. With fifth graders dancing to it, and they had inserted their own verse about diversity. And they had changed the lyrics to "up in it oh".

I wonder if the teacher actually knew what it was about?
