To me, the best one out there is KTRU, the Rice University station out of Houston. Sunday nights are metal, Thursday nights is more garage style, Saturdays and Sundays are typically jazz and world beat, with the rest of the week just depending on the DJ. Don't expect the mainstream stuff as college radio, at least to me, is where it's at. They also have set lists from each DJ so you can tell what style they usually go with, although there can be a wide variety within the same hour.

Share your station.

Time for some positivity! [which is rich coming from me].

I like the fact that i'm discovering music that i probably never would have if i had never come to this section. And it's nice to have somewhere to babble on about the music that i love.

What is /your/ favourite thing about this glorious section?

Mine somewhat do. I have a friend that listens to nothing but metalcore/death metal, and that has had a great influence on me. But for the most part I'm the one that has an influence on people around me.

How about you?

I have recently been getting into rock music (bit of a departure for me!) and have been listening to AC/DC, Pearl Jam, Black Crowes, etc. What bands you would recommend both old and new??

If I had to choose, my brain would proably explode.
Jim Morrison because I love the Doors.
Kurt Cobain to see how great Nirvana could have been.
Dimebag Darrell because Pantera was awesome.

Who would you bring back to life?

I should explain. What are some bands that serve as introductions to genres? Like the first metal band most people get into is Metallica and one of the first progressive bands most people get into is Yes or Rush. Bands that lead you to a certain genre. Wow, I'm doing a terrible job at explaining...

So what are some other "gateway" bands?

They had some really great albums out in the early 1980's. "Get it On Credit", "Girl's Night Out", and a couple of others. I really enjoyed their music.

... you found that they held severely different/contrasting views or beliefs to your own?
[This is referring to views or beliefs that you feel at least somewhat strongly about]

Perhaps you're a Satanist and the band members are Christian. Or members of the bands are Pro-choice activists, and you are pro-life... and other such issues.

Would you stop listening? Why or why not?

Which do you like more? I pick hair metal 100% of the way. I hate grunge. I've listen to it but I never got into it. Hair metal is one of my favorite genres of music.
