Mine somewhat do. I have a friend that listens to nothing but metalcore/death metal, and that has had a great influence on me. But for the most part I'm the one that has an influence on people around me.

How about you?

No. I always sticked to my own. And I never recommend any good music to my friends. And they did to me but they all sucked. I keep my status in everything to an underground level. Plus, I'd just be feeding the posers. None of my friends listen to metal like I do, the few that do do not listen to underground so why bother in giving them music? I'll recommend music to someone if I know they listen to truly underground metal like me. Which I have yet to meet in the future.

No.
This is mostly due to severe lack of 'friends' :(

But I have had some good recommendations from people here, based on what I already listen to.

Edit :~

What I should add is, I won't be influenced by anyone in the sense of 'following the crowd'. I like what I like, and quite a bit of it is very different to what other 25-year-olds listen to.

They used to in the fact that thay would introduce me to a lot of material I might not otherwise have heard. It's not as if it is was a cool thing; a large group of us were close but everybody had different tastes. Some bands I did not care for, some I still listen to this day. I brought some to the table to as I introduced some to different styles or groups. But yeah, as a whole that has probably been my primary influence in my musical tastes.

some do, some don't. Most listen to whatever's on the radio, and that doesn't really float my boat. So, if anyone's doing the influencing it's me. I'm always trying to get them to listen to new stuff and sometimes it works!
My cousin and I though, we like alll the same stuff, so when one finds a good band, the other soon knows about it.

Not really, I like alot of different genres all ready, but it was a friend who introduced me to Enya, and I have been a fan ever since. And I have discovered some good bands and artists I was unaware of just by being on here as well, like Atreyu, Chiodos, Porcupine Tree, and The Devil Wears Prada......I had never heard of any of those until I started hanging out here and I was quite impressed. :)

Not at all. I am my own person & I have my own likes & dislikes. My friends love me for who I am, not what kind of music I listen to.It's good that your being influenced by real music instead of that emo/pop crap. When I was a teenager I steered clear of being influenced. Instead, I gave them suggestions & turned them on to good metal bands & let them make their own decisions. If they liked it then they liked it if they didn't then they forgot about it. People shouldn't be so impresionable.

No/Yes.All my main friends listen to rap/r&b.Things like that but lately I've been hanging out with my friend Cody he listens to A Skylit Drive,All Time Low so basically poppy catchy rocker things I guess. So I've been kind of into All Time Low a little more than usually.

Only 1 has ever influenced me. She turned me onto classical. I was always listening to death metal & heavy metal & she showed me another world. Now don't get me wrong, I haven't gone to the darkside. But I do appreciate other forms of music because of her.

I don't have any.
When i did, they didn't influence my music tastes in the slightest. They all listened to Hip-hop, R&B and Grime [the UK's pathetic attempt at Rap] while i was having a jolly old time listening to Rock.

most of my mates actually listen to stuff like rap (as most kids my age seem to -__-) and they haven't heard of 90% of the stuff i listen to.
my best friend definately doesn't influence my taste..she only listens to what's in the chart.regardless of the genre - if it's 'whats in',she listens to it.
some of my other friends who are more into my sort of music who listen to heavier stuff too influence me though.
i wouldn't say i have much of an influence on other people as i don't really talk to them about my music unless they ask me. because they'll just stare at me with a blank face and the go on about dizzee rascal's (or whatever he's called :/) new song about strippers and doing coke.

in some ways they do, if one of my friends has a band they have been obsessing over they'll tell me about it. But for the most part my friends listen to things that im not really in to. LIke my friend has been trying to get me to listen to Tegan and Sara for the longest time, but they're a little soft for me.
