What're some really good, kick a.ss *recent* rock bands (trust me, I got the old stuff covered) :)
I recently did this w/ metal & screamo & got lots of great replies & links to good Youtube vids.
This time I'm doing it w/ metal's older brother- hard rock. (& not so hard rock too actually)
Thx & Fire away!

OK, so we want hard but not quite metal. This could be a daunting challenge.

This album came out before they got their permanent singer (Argyle Goolsby of Blitzkid). It's Doyle's (of Misfits fame) new band. Much more of a hard rock direction.

This should keep you busy for a while:
Danny Vaughn - There's a lot of material out there to cover from his two previous bands (Waysted, one album; and Tyketto, two albums) and his solo work (some of it under the Vaughn moniker).

The Answer - Irish band, straight ahead rock'n'roll, a nice blend of Zeppelin and the Faces.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CYsxWGSugIg
Backyard Babies - Glammed up punk, this was a side project for the singer who was in a death metal band.

Black Stone Cherry - Heavy handed rock with a southern flavor.

Cinder Road - I've just started listening to these guys, so I don't have much to offer other than a once over on their first album.

Crashdiet - Certainly not for everyone... modern glam.

Endeverafter - I saw these guys open for Poison and Cinderella last year... not very original but good at what they do.

Gemini Five - The best way to describe would be industrialized glam.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CEjysHmtMR8
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CHpPprh9BJk
Hardcore Superstar - More glammed out punk, or possibly punked out glam... the song "We Don't Celebrate Sundays" is an all time favorite.

Wig Wam - Waaaaaaay over the top glam, and very tongue in cheek. They don't take themselves seriously, but the music is great.

The Wildhearts - Hit or miss with these guys. Their first album is fabulous from start to finish.
