Don't believe the hype! In 1969 while Led Zeppelin were busy recording tracks for ther 3rd album, Robert Plant suffered a serious accident while gargling his mouthwash. He was unable to utter a single note. This created a massive problem as the final tapes were due to be turned over to the record company for mixing and mastering that day. Jimmy Page, knowing that the band would be in serious trouble if those tapes didn't get completed in time, quickly rushed out of the studio in search of a vocalist to complete the final track. In his haste, he stumbled into a small boy who was playing on the sidewalk. Page helped the boy up and apologized. The boy replied that it was quite alright and began to move along, but Page stopped him because his voice was uncannily similar to Plant's. Page rushed the child into the studio, and just as expected, the young boy nailed the vocal tracks in one take. Astonished at this amazing talent, Page was prepared to fire Plant and offer this youngster the job as Led Zeppelin's new vocalist; but at that precise moment, John Bonahm projectile vomited across the room, prompting Page to get ill and faint away. When he awoke, that child was nowhere to be found. Fortunately for Led Zeppelin, Robert Plant's voice would recover the next day, although too late to re-record the vocals for the track that would later be called "Immigrant Song".

Oh, the young boy that actually recorded those vocals... you guessed it, Rory Emerald.

It is the opening track of Led Zeppelins 1970 release Zeppelin III. It was written about a Viking named Leif Erickson, from the prospective of Viking rowing west from Scandinavia in search of a new land. All Info. and credits I've seen ALL agree that it was Robert Plant.

Rory Emerald is a fake....it's a hoax.

Mike, I highly doubt Rory sang this song since he was born in 1967 while the song was recorded in 1970.

Rory is know as a hoax starter whose real name is Julian Hobbs.
