One of the most overlooked of the ealry big names in punk. They put out more material than almost any other '77 punk band and yet still manage to be overlooked by so many when they put out material on par with the best of the rest. Who else thoroughly enjoys this wonderful original punk rock band and believes they deserve more credit than they get?

Other things they deserve credit for:
-First UK punk single
-First UK punk album
-First UK punk band to tour America
-First UK punk band to break up
-First UK punk band to reform

Any news about one? It seems like they have a fairly good number of songs from old singles, b-sides, and live tracks that I haven't been able to find.

This kind of goes along with a question Lovenrckts asked about a lot of the modern indie rock being very whispy and mellow. I picked up the new Band of Horses today and I like it and all. It's pretty good, but they stood at the fork and decided to make a mellower record as opposed to one that rocked equally or a little more. They're really good at the more up-ity stuff and the two or three tracks on the record that rock more are clearly, for my money, the best tracks.
Don't get me wrong. I love mellow tunes, and obviously my opinion isn't really relevant, but I'm slightly disappointed.

Do you have any bands like that? Ones that you think made the wrong decision.

It should be noted that I've only heard the record once and my opinion is completely subject to change if there is some revelation. Plus, I haven't heard it in the car yet which is the really telling listen.

I got this CD by Vanessa Carlton and in it they just used an ordinary Orchestra without any electric guitars but they some how made the violins sound exactly like electric guitars.
How do you make a violin sound like an electric guitar?

Last night when I stopped to gas up my car I could hear "Sweet Caroline" being sung very loudly (and drunkenly) from the bar next door to the gas station. It reminded me of the times I had heard that song from their perspective, with a beer in my hand, and I STILL couldn't stand it. That song gets my vote for this - it should not be allowed at bars, parties...anywhere.

What song gets your vote? And are there any songs that are a must?

Once upon a time, it was possible to make the pop charts without writing any lyrics.
Dueling Banjoes. Nadia's Theme. Telstar. And TV themes -- Hawai FIve-Oh,
Mission Impossible, the theme from "The Rockford Files." But I never hear instrumental
music on pop radio anymore. What was the last instrumental tune to be a hit?

Alright. I want to make a CD about being/becoming/acting like/partying like/or just wanting to be a rockstar. I need all those smart rockers out there (or really stoned ones who listen to a lot of music) to help me compile a list of 12-20 song for a CD. Here's my list of songs I want on it right off the bad:

"Money for Nothing" DIre Straits
"Party Like A Rockstar" Shop Boyz (I know it's rap, but it fits the bill...)
"Party Like A Rockstar" JT Experience
"Famous" Puddle of Mudd
"Rockstar" Nickleback

So yeah... Whoever comes up with the best list not only gets best answer, but I promise to promote his/her musical greatness with a 5 star rating. So my minions, disperse and bring unto me rockstar music glory

I mean like a band member on stage throwing something off that you caught and kept. I saw Tenacious D and Jack Black threw his guitar pick and I caught it...it has a cartoon picture of him on it haha
