'Money for Nothing'- Dire Straits
'Jump'- Van Halen
'Star Spangled Banner'- Jimi Hendrix
'The Ballad of Jed Clampett'- Earl Scruggs (All right- so the Beverly Hillbillies Theme is banjo rather than guitar but musically speaking it is still awesome)

For simple catchiness while maintaining a real cool badass feel, my favorite riff at the moment has to be in "No Fun" by the Stooges.

The simple riff in the song "The Slider" by T.Rex always does it, another real smooth cool one. It won't blow your speakers up but you can't deny that it's awesome.

"Beat On The Brat" by the Ramones has a simple classic riff.

Although tonight the fantastic "God Save The Queen" might take home the silver medal. It really works and feels so energetic and defiant. Wonderful example of what rock 'n' roll should sound like!

In an extremely uncharacteristic move I'm going to do something I would usually never do on a public forum. Give credi to Led Zeppelin O.O . Because some days I'm really really impressed with the song, and riff, in "Communication Breakdown". In fact I've never heard a song that was called or had the word breakdown that didn't kick ***. Two more great examples would be "Nervous Breakdown" by Black Flag and "Breakdown" by Agent Orange. But for now I'll stick with the Led Zeppelin song for some odd reason. Some one must've spiked my drink.

"Smoke On the Water" by Deep Purple. Of course.

"(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" by the Rolling Stones. Great song.

"Purple Haze" by The Jimi Hendrix Experience. Hendrix's finest and funniest.

"Day Tripper" by the Beatles. The attempt to beat "Satisfaction".

"Iron Man" by Black Sabbath. First metal riff I listened to.

If I could, I'd put "Sunshine of Your Love" by Cream too. Or "Blitzkrieg Bop" by the Ramones. Too many good ones.

Maybe not the best, but some of my favorites.
