Mine: Kick in the Eye - Bauhaus.

It's like a combination of Gothic Rock and Disco [well to me anyway - perhaps no-one else has noticed hehe].
I'm not too fond of Disco, and maybe that was never the band's intention, but that's what i got out of it.

You?

I'm annoyed by The Beatles' Drive My Car, I don't know why, but I am. And I love the Beatles too, and Rubber Soul is one of my favorite Beatles albums.

Take rock music, for example- why should anyone who listens to it be labeled "punk rock", "goth", "emo", or "scene"?

It's just music.

Question comes to mind as a Poison song pops up on my iPod. The lyric here is "put me into you like a flesh tattoo." Okay... I know what they're going for, but it just doesn't work. Another infamous favorite is the Kiss song "Burn B*tch Burn" with that classic line "I wanna put my log in your fireplace". Yikes.

Any other head shakers out there, I need a good laugh.

Some think it's about child abuse. I do not. I think it's about a first, lustful relationship, maybe that is one sided. "you took a child and you made him old" sounds like that first physical relationship to me, not really a young child. What do you other fans think? Lyrics included:
It's time the tale were told
Of how you took a child
And you made him old

It's time the tale were told
Of how you took a child
And you made him old
You made him old

Reel around the fountain
Slap me on the patio
I'll take it now
Oh ...

Fifteen minutes with you
Well, I wouldn't say no
Oh, people said that you were virtually dead
And they were so wrong

Fifteen minutes with you
Oh, well, I wouldn't say no
Oh, people said that you were easily led
And they were half-right
Oh, they ... oh, they were half-right, oh

It's time the tale were told
Of how you took a child
And you made him old
It's time that the tale were told
Of how you took a child
And you made him old
You made him old

Oh, reel around the fountain
Slap me on the patio
I'll take it now
Ah ... oh ...

Fifteen minutes with you
Oh, I wouldn't say no
Oh, people see no worth in you
Oh, but I do.
Fifteen minutes with you
Oh, I wouldn't say no
Oh, people see no worth in you
I do.
Oh, I ... oh, I do
Oh ...

I dreamt about you last night
And I fell out of bed twice
You can pin and mount me like a butterfly
But "take me to the haven of your bed"
Was something that you never said
Two lumps, please
You're the bee's knees
But so am I

Oh, meet me at the fountain
Shove me on the patio
I'll take it slowly
Oh ...

Fifteen minutes with you
Oh, I wouldn't say no
Oh, people see no worth in you
Oh, but I do.
Fifteen minutes with you
Oh, no, I wouldn't say no
Oh, people see no worth in you
I do.
Oh, I ... I do

I guess some would consider this to be the ultimate display of devotion, and some wouldn't consider it for a second. Personally, I don't have any ink, but I had a friend who had the Pearl Jam stick figure done on her ankle. Three years later, she really regretted it.

If you don't have one, would you ever consider it? And if you do, are you still happy with your decision to get that done?

Most of us have complained that MTV doesn't play music anymore. Prior to 1981, there was no constant television vehicle to showcase musicians. That has more or less come full circle, with MTV being little more than poorly conceived (not to mention poorly scripted and acted) dating shows and soap operas). Musicians should have a chance to shine on their own, and flaunt their wares.

This, by and large, hasn't happened. Even with the very powerful medium of the internet to create interest in a specific artist, it seems that MTV is almost a scapegoat in artists not getting their shot. Your thoughts?

Hip-Hop and stuff has contaminated what music truely is.. and even in rock, the most popular bands are anti-religious things like Slayer, Slipknot, and Nine Inch Nails. I feel guilty listening to these bands, can someone tell me if these bands are truely anti-religious? Cause I think the album name "God Hates US All" is a bit of a giveaway...

Let's create two imaginary guitarists.

One is very skilled at writing songs, but isn't too skilled as a guitarist. He can write great melodies and sometimes some very advanced pieces, but he can't necessarily play everything he writes.

The other is skilled as hell, able to play anything that's given to him, but he's unable to write anything good. He can improvise but not necessarily with a good melody.

Say you have a band and you're in need of a guitarist. Which guitarist would you choose? The songwriter or the virtuoso?

I'm trying to make a playlist of fun, loud, bombastic rock songs. I think most of the ones I've already picked out are probably classified as "arena rock," but several are just rock songs I thought fit with the playlist's general sound. Any suggestions about songs I should add?

Here are the songs I've added so far:
We Belong-Pat Benatar
In a Big Country-Big Country
Angel-Aerosmith
Any Way You Want It-Journey
Here I Go Again-Whitesnake
We Will Rock You-Queen
Tubthumping-Chumbawamba
We Built This City-Starship
Livin' On A Prayer-Bon Jovi
Pour Some Sugar On Me-Def Leppard
Life Is A Highway-Rascal Flatts
More Than A Feeling-Boston
Don't Stop Believing-Journey
It's My Life-Bon Jovi
Kyrie-Mr. Mister

Thanks everyone!

Sarah C regards them highly, so I looked at them on Youtube. They're like a trip from the past. Modern band with a classic sound. The singer isn't whiney, the lyrics make little sense (and aren't all "cut me and watch me bleed to death over your love" type of thing).

Does anyone else like them, and what would you recommend for a first album?
