It sounds like an old cell phone ringing, and I don't remember it being there a long time ago.

Not necessarily your two favorite tracks, though it does often work out that way, but for someone who has never heard that band that you would like to introduce to their music. If it is different, which tracks are your favorites?

I know it can depend on the audience (I know it would quite possibly effect my answer), but just go with your general listener.

I went with two tracks because that's usually my initial test for a band. I figure if two tracks hand picked by a fan won't at least get me intrigued to hear more than I probably won't be into it.

Thanks.

I'd like to cut a CD for a friend who has never heard of Rush before, I'm planning to include the following songs, do you agree with my selection or are better songs I should include? Perhaps I'm putting too much emphasys on the older stuff, what do you think. Thanks!

1. YYZ
2. The Spirit of Radio
3. Freewill
4. Natural Science
5. Jacob's Ladder
6. Closer to the heart
7. La Villa Strangiato
8. Time Stand Still
9. Resist
10. Main Monkey Business (from Snakes and Arrows)

I think it would be interesting to see the Deftones fronted by Dean Martin. For a lot of reasons that will never happen, but the thought of it cracks me up.

How about you? And it can be a crooner from any era.

Mine is some nameless song on 34 Satellite's album Radar. Being that they are so obscure, I have yet to find the name of that track.....

What's yours?

I'll cast my vote for Guns N' Roses (or, at least, the current incarnation of it). When Axl and company appeared on the 2002 MTV Awards, it was intended to be a rebirth of the band. It was clear that he was not only performing to an audience that wasn't that into it, but that he wasn't able to hit the notes that he once was. He had eroded from the world's biggest rock star into a parody of a rock star.

GNR had their window. Without a doubt, they were at one time, the most popular band in the world, and Axl pissed it away. Twice. Most people don't get even one shot in life at the brass ring. Axl had two; he blew them both.

Your thoughts on my rant, or your own contributions are welcome.

like-

Muse
Live
Queen
Whitesnake
Led Zeppelin
Sammy Hagar
Michael Sweet
...etc.

I hate music that doesn't have a vocalist with a wide range. Can you inform me of some other bands, which are modern? It's hard to find them. I just found Muse.

By the way, I'm talking "Rock & Roll."
List me some please.

I was looking through old issues on the New York Times (yea....) and found this advertisement for the new Mika album and it has all these reviews that were saying how he was the next Freddie Mercury. I've also heard alot of people say this on Y!A, and it makes me wonder, WHY?!?!?
Mika has a high pitched girly voice, Freddie had a huge range. Mika squeals, Freddie hits the high notes. Freddie was an amazing vocalist, Mika is um....... acually, I can't really describe it....
So why in the world is there a comparison?

i know alot will disagree with me but...
i find robert plant's voice very annoying. i like led zepplin, but listening to his voice a long time certainly gets on my nerves.

also i find that guy from the smashing pumpkins voice kinda annoying, you know like how he gets loud, and then soft.

I like Aerosmith and ACDC but what are some good songs by The Who, or any other classic rock bands. But not hard metal rock or not present rock.
