This format did lead to the rise of album-oriented rock. Artists who didn't have a lot of success with singles could now get airplay from album cuts. I think the Led Zeppelin song "Stairway To Heaven" was the biggest beneficiary of this format. This song was never released as a single yet everybody seems to know it. It used to be that nobody except for fans of the groups knew album cuts unless they were released as singles.

The Beatles have been widely credited for creating album-oriented rock. Before they came along, groups or singers would release singles and over time, their record labels would compile the songs and release albums of greatest hits. The Beatles started the concept of releasing the albums first and then singles from them. This practice became especially prevalent with the release of "Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" on June 1, 1967, and continued for many years afterwards.

Not due to the fact Focus companies, ingenious experts. and too many advertisements have taken over FM radio. FM radio was once satisfactory within the 70's and early eighty's. It is now watered down AM radio in stereo
