Heya
For me, i LOVED Tarzan, I thought it was so cute!
However i can recite almost every word of the Parents Trap, featuring L. Lohan, with my friend!
On the other hand, the best three films in the world are Pirates of the Caribbean 1, 2 and 3...they are just, ... undescribably amazing...i can't accept that it's all over!
SO!
What about you lot?
:D
Cheers

I'd say,
"Lord of the Rings"
"A Year in Provence"
"Shadowlands"
"Croutching Tiger, Hidden Dragon"
"The Sound of Music"

What movie makes you cry, but is not the stereotypical "tearjerker" like "Love Story" or "Steel Magnolias"?
And, I do not mean a movie that makes you cry from happiness.
For example, the movie "A.I." made me cry so badly at the movies, I could not watch it again when it was released on DVD etc.

Someone dives into a rock quarry that is full of water? or maybe a resevoir? And is there a scene where the main character is shaving his legs to reduce friction when he bikes and his parents catch him?

I'm trying to figure out if I saw this movie when I was a kid.... I think I may have. If I haven't, anyone know what movie I'm talking about?

All right, let's see . . . this snobby guy from the US goes to Africa. He meets a blonde who lives there. I remember a couple of scenes, one of which was where they go back to her house to find her family murdered. Then, as she's running out, the head guy shouts "The girl!" right before the van she put explosives on explodes. Then, they're in the desert, walking, and they see a helecopter. Somehow knowing it's come to kill them, they leave their clothes lying on the desert sand and watch from a nearby tree. Sure enough, their clothes get gunned down . . . is this ringing any bells for anyone?

What movies or which of these movies do you praise to appear intelligent and be told you have such great taste?

Citizen Kane
Casablanca
Gone With The Wind
The Godfather
Memento
2001: A Space Odyssey
The Godfather Part 2

Notice these are mostly films that are ones that receive mass critical acclaim. According to what I've seen in Internet movie forums, anyone who claims any one of those above films is boring or no good is told they have a short attention span, low IQ and need lots of car chases, guns and explosions with little or no capacity to understand anything that's "intellectually" stimulating. So which of these films do you claim to like just to appear intelligent?
