What movies or which of these movies do you praise to appear intelligent and be told you have such great taste?

Citizen Kane
Casablanca
Gone With The Wind
The Godfather
Memento
2001: A Space Odyssey
The Godfather Part 2

Notice these are mostly films that are ones that receive mass critical acclaim. According to what I've seen in Internet movie forums, anyone who claims any one of those above films is boring or no good is told they have a short attention span, low IQ and need lots of car chases, guns and explosions with little or no capacity to understand anything that's "intellectually" stimulating. So which of these films do you claim to like just to appear intelligent?

I don't understand why anyone would claim that they like a film to look intelligent. That just seems a little strange to be honest. The films that you have mentioned are all greats, but if you didn't enjoy them I wouldn't go around saying you did just to seem smarter. Like a film for how it makes you feel, not how you think it should make you feel.

I hated the last hour of GWTW, I cringe when the resitance leader, appears in Casablanca, because he is so miscast, and the last 30 minutes of Citizen Kane is unwatchable. 2001 is pretentious nonsense, and I have not seen Momento. The Godfather, however, is a classic of the cinema.

I ve watched all of those films and i think they re great, and i dont say it to "appear" intellectual, i just truly enjoy them... i even own some of them on dvd.... films are my main hobby (even went to film school) but i also enjoy crappy horror movies and some action movies like Heat or the terminator.....
So saying that anyone who claims any one of these films is boring is a stupid person, is as wrong as implying (as i think you are doing) that anyone who claims these films are genius its just and azzhole who is just "pretending"

I actually enjoyed Memento. Difficult to follow at first because it kept switching from one seen to the next but the acting and the plots were awesome!

V for Vendetta...not looked at in that way because its based on a Comic book graphic novel...but it is very intellectual and political...highly recommend!!!

If that where my intention, I wouldn't claim to like these. It just means you have a lot of time on your hands to watch loooong movies.
