i'm a 17+ yr old girl not a good student. my parents recently arrange a private tutor for me who is a boy nearly of my age. my parents instructed him to be very tough if i fail to do my h/w etc.---advise him punish me without hesitation. if i fail to answer a ques the guy forced me to standup on chair . he then hit me on my leg or on palm with a cane. i'm so scared of pain and also feel embarrassed being punished by a young boy .should he punish a girl of 17+. my parents beat me severely for a protest and unwillingness to learn from the guy of my age. pl advise how can i bear with this. i'm trying my best but it yeild little.

I took the Math 8-12 teacher certification test and you need a 240 to pass. I got a 224 the first time and a 219 the second time. I don't know what I am doing wrong and I really feel disappointed in myself. I have this ugly feeling of failure and I don't know what to do anymore. What would you do?

she don't want students to smoke but she smokes VERY OFTEN anywhere she wants, and even in her office.

she dislikes our section which ended up calling us "$#!T!", shouting.

she always call some students in our class "Blupper", which, to her, means boastful. duh?

she blew cigar smoke to the face of a student.

and... she flirts with almost any guy student...even if she's already 50 years old!

This will be my 1st year teaching and I'll be teaching a kindergarten self-contained ESL class. The first 2 days of school are half-days and I needed an idea of something to do with them that perhaps gets them acquainted. Any ideas??? (They are ELLs and most probably won't know much ENglish, if any).

I started filling out an application with tutor.com to be an online tutor and they ask for my SSN# upfront. This seems kind of suspicious. There is a lock next to the address bar suggesting that it is a secure site but when I have to click on the link to read some agreement, my browser recommends that I not proceed. So I didn't complete the application. My husband thinks that all applications ask for SSN#'s so they can check you out. Does anyone have any advice?

I currently am en route to become a Mathematics teacher, but I'm starting to maybe want to combine mathematics with physics certification (Any state, would like to move to midwest or NY (Not NYC)).

I've been reading theorems of Physics lately and would like to teach classes on the applications. Mathematics is a love of mine, but physics is right behind it.

Is it feasible for a school to hire someone to do, say, both?

This is for entry level 3 literacy. I have to impart an understanding of how questions may vary and thus the way they are answered does as well. I have a few ideas but I'm not too pleased with them and would appreciate ideas.

I am wondering if their is a real need for teachers in Texas? I am considering alternate teacher certification and was looking for employment on different school web sites and did not see much of a need at this time for teachers. Is it possible that this is the case because the school year is beging?
Also, I have my BA in History but am seeking certification in special education is their a large need for that subject area and would it be possible to teach that subject area if my BA is in History?
One final question what is the best alternate teacher certification program for the Houston area or San Antonio?

I would like to become an ESL instructor to adults, but I have a major fear of public speaking. Did any of you have this problem, also? If so, how did you overcome it?

Before I've had my teacher, I always though she was a *****. Cause she'd get smart for no reason, telling me to be quiet in the restroom when I wasn't even talking, and when she'd walk past me in the hall, she'd give me this evil look. I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW THIS LADY AND SHE DIDN'T KNOW ME. One time I was in the store and she was getting her nails done, and I looked in there, and she was staring dead at me. Now that I have her as a teacher, she just suddenly changed to being nice to me. Wtf is up with that?

I had seven interviews and I wore a suit on each one. I didn’t receive any offers. I noticed the people that interviewed before me (I saw them walking out) and the people after me (I saw them as I was leaving) did not have suits on. I thought a suit would give me an edge. I also noticed the people looked older then me, like they had experience teaching. I am straight out of college. Maybe they pick someone with experience over me. I don’t know what to think at this point.

My mother thinks the suit makes me look like I’m auditioning for the Apprentice, not trying to get a teaching job. She says it makes me look uptight and too professional. She thinks if I dressed more approachable I would get a job. So she bought me an outfit. It’s a shirt with a long skirt. I don’t know if I should try it or not. I need some advice!
