i have recieved my degree and live in new orleans, which badly needs teachers since Katrina. it it has been my dream to teach in the secondary field in history and english. All the districts here will not hire me because i am not certified. the certification process here is a procedure that i have to give 3 years to the system in order to get certified. my financee lives in Georgia and will be a civil engineer in june '08 which will require him and i to move around. Thats why i cannot commit to a three process of certifcation. i just want to get some teaching expericence in my career. any suggestions? i am open to moving to another state to teach for a year. your help is greatly apreicated.

I'm looking for a good resource for learning basic math skills like fractions, decimals, geometry or algebra. I would prefer a decent interactive freeware software or a free interactive website.

This question is for teaching professionals. I was told by a new parent to the school that the vice principal yelled at her for coming in the wrong door to the school to register her child and then proceeded to complain about the new principal in front of the parent. This VP was also not helpful and rude to me. Should I make a grievance?

I am a first-year teacher and accepted a position teaching 8th grade Integrated Language Arts yesterday; the first day for students is THIS THURSDAY. I have not seen the school, let alone my classroom, and have not met any of the staff as I was hired by the district HR guy. Monday and Tuesday are new teacher orientation and Wednesday is first day for teachers, so I don't have much prep time. My student teaching was at two different high schools, so I'm not exactly sure what the 8th grade curriculum looks like. Does anyone have any advice? I'm a bit panicked!

(Please don't berate me for taking this job. I live in Ohio and am lucky to have a contract job in my first year, particularly as an English teacher).

I think that teaching guitar would be the best job for me now. I would enjoy it and make good money. However, I wanted to know if I require any degrees or credentials to be a teacher. I'm 18 and I'm quite proficient at my instrument. Do I just put up ads or what? Also, would it be better to work in a music store instead?

This happened today at my last period. The student just got up and walked out stating that technically she cannot hold any students there as the student handbook stated that schools over when the last bell rings. Is this true?
