I am wondering if their is a real need for teachers in Texas? I am considering alternate teacher certification and was looking for employment on different school web sites and did not see much of a need at this time for teachers. Is it possible that this is the case because the school year is beging?
Also, I have my BA in History but am seeking certification in special education is their a large need for that subject area and would it be possible to teach that subject area if my BA is in History?
One final question what is the best alternate teacher certification program for the Houston area or San Antonio?

" There" !! Please forgive this mistake I was in the middle of a hectic morning with my three children, as I am sure other single parents can relate to, and trying to get some work on the internet done. Please only leave useful comments to my question, such as is the intention of the web-site!!

Where there is demand, there is supply; and where there is supply, there is demand! It works vice versa and teaching profession is no exception. As for your question, of course there is really a real need for teachers in any society, including Texas!

There is a nationals teacher shortage which of course tends to be worse in certain areas of the country and with certain subjects.

You can call several schools in Texas and ask the question there.

History does not tend to be a major shortage are. Special education thought is a major shortage area.

You should strive to obtain dual teacher certification It will not only make you a better teacher but will greatly increase your marketability.

Good luck.

If you are going to teach, please learn the difference between 'their' and 'there'. You have used the wrong one throughout.
