The book was about spaghetti being all over the town, etc. I would LOVE to get the book for my kids, but can't remember the name. Please help! It would have been in the early to mid 80's, but could be older.

Family member is an over-protected mother who doesn't see she has an issue on how her parental skills may be affecting them ages 21, 18 and 9. Any advice of what I should do? I'm a Preschool teacher so my job is to observe behavior in class so, I told her she needs to stop yelling at her 9 yr old for having some fears. I told her she needs to stop picking the men in her 18 and 21lives. She insists not to kick them out for she doesn't want harm to happen to them. Need your help. It goes on forever but I finally got tired of seeing and hearing about it so I spoke my mind. She denies it. She feels I'm the one with the issues. She insists I have OCD and she doesn't hold a Phd. to be able to diagnois me so, I told her that she cannot do that but I do hold a degree as a Teacher which I have all legal rights to express my concerns of abuse and she got upset and hung up on the phone with me. Was I wrong to have mentioned that to her?

I have always wanted to know and even though I don't have children yet I am looking to start getting things for when I am ready to have kids. I heard about the product before but didn't really know if or how it works, and what kinds of things you can get.

Our district is ready to implement this in August. We are including 6 special Ed. students into a regular preschool to give them a headstart on what is needed for Kinder. In this paper I need to state what it is? Why is it important? Methodology and anticipated obstacles. How it looks in the classroom? How it is incorporated? What is the application and the benefits? How can I get the parents involved?

My daughter is 4 and will not be starting Kindergarten until Sept of '07. I have been homeschooling her a preschool curriculum to get her up to speed with other kids her age.

My main problem is that she can't pronounce her "R's".
Ex: Car = Caw, Run= Wun, River= Wival

I think its adorable, especially when she tells me an entire story with her "accent".

I have always figured that she will outgrow it, and once she begins school, they will correct it.

Recently, several people have told me that she needs therapy. I have been told that I should correct her when she says things incorrectly- but if I do that, she gets irritated and says "I did say caw (car). You dont heaw(hear) me wight (right)."

Should I correct it now, or should I wait until she starts school? She is my last baby :( so I am in no rush for her to grow up and I think its sooo cute.

Any advice?

In Florida we have a program called Voluntary Pre-K. The school district we are in offers this to them if they are 4 yrs old before the beginning of the school year. I went for the inqury of the program, It is a full day at school, 8-2:30 and they ride the bus just like the other children. What is your opinion on what a good age is for them to start school. My son thought it would be fun, UNTIL I registered him and it is getting close to that time. He is getting nervous and saying he doesn't want to go. With it being Voluntary, it would seem if it doesn't work out, I would be able to pull him out until the next year for Kindergarten. I have two other children, both in high school. No kind of program was offered like this when they were young. That is why I am turning to you all. Thank you for all of your input.

my son started reading words (see list below) at the age of 25 months old.... it is not only by reading written words on book, but he can read my actual handwriting, and even when i just recite the letters (spelling)... he would read the letters individually, then at the end, say the word... no pictures or anything to give him clues.... he knows his alphabets (recognize and recite), count up to 29, all his shapes (trapezoid, octagon, pentagon included), all his colors... he is now 26.5 months and can read at least 8 words.

cat, cow, car, dog, mommy, daddy, duck, calvin (his name)...i forgot the other ones...

WHAT IS THE NORM?
