because during the time of the civil war the only place you were allowed to fight was in a public park because those places could charge admission to spectators. And back during the civil war, watching war battles was a popular form on entertainment. People would take a vacation of sorts and ride their horse from park to park to watch the blood shed.
Silly, it is that they bacame parks after battles were fought there.

They weren't national parks at the time. The parks were created to commemorate the battles of the Civil War.

The parts the position the battles were fought were no longer nationwide Parks both before or in the course of the battles. They were targeted as nationwide Parks only after the battles were fought there.

Duh, they became National Parks AFTER the Civil War!
The proper question would be, Why have MOST of the battle fields of the Civil War been turned INTO National Parks?
But you didn't ask that, did you?

Duh, everybody knows its becuase back then soldiers liked to bake bread, and when soldiers baked bread they were very messy ,after all they were soldiers, so they always left alot of crumbs laying around after they baked. They decided that the best way to get rid of those pesky crumbs was to pick battlegrounds with alot of squirrels, and EVERYBODY knows that squirrels love national parks. So they decided to battle in the natinal parks so the squirrells could have the pesky bread crumbs. It worked out nice for everyone (well except for the guys who got shot)

they fought the battles, THEN the parks were made. not the other way around.
its not like they're walking around and decide "ok now that we're here lets fight" noooooo many sites are honored and made into parks.
