A 11 year old girl with aspergers syndrome has just joined the class where im working as a teachers assistant. I would like some assistance in some strategies I could implement to help her adjustment go as smooth as possible,I want to be able to meet all her needs but am unsure how to start.I want to be able to minimise outbursts and inappropriate behaviour from her while being sensitive to her needs and the needs of others in the classroom.

I am a preschool teacher with a class of 12 4 and 5 year-olds. One of my students, a girl, has been exhibiting very aggressive behaviors (kicking, hitting, screaming) towards teachers and other students when she does not get her way. We have tried several dfferent methods (rewards for good behavior, etc.) to subdue this behavior and replace it with more positive ones, but all have backfired. My frustration level with this child is getting to the breaking point, and it is affecting the entire class. Any ideas? (The parents are aware of the behavior and also see it at home.)

he knows exactly how to hurt me...he goes completely silent and lets me believe it is over forever. I know it is not wise to pursue him 'cause this is how he gets his kicks but does anyone have any "untraditional" ways of getting some communication from him? (I've tried the phone, a text message and e-mail.) I feel like letting the air out of his tires but am too mature for that (I think).

I checked our local library's website for story hour. They had a weekly program all winter long that ends March 2nd. I may take her to the last one, at 9:00a.m.; however, I work until 1:00 the night before so we'll see. I also checked our Health and Wellness Center for play groups. All that they have is sports activities for kids starting at age 5. I'm hoping to find something for kids her age to interact as well as their Mommy's. I'm also looking for low-cost or free ideas preferably in the afternoon after her nap due to my work schedule. Any suggestions?

my 3 1/2 yr old daughter goes to a pre-school 3 times a week for 2 1/2 hr sessions. can anybody tell me what she should be learning from this? I took her there as it had good reports from friends and others but when i went to help it looked like all they did was free play until snack or story time. should they e sitting down constructively learning something or is it enough to be learning through play alone?
I am going to have a word but interested in what others kids do at their pre-schools first?

At my school we'll be running a playschool for 3-5 year olds. Now I've never really worked with kids before, and I'm having a really hard time coming up with fun activities. I need to develope a lesson plan for three themes.
1. Colors, Shapes, and Sizes week
2.Transportation and Safety week
3. My Body and Health Week

Now any suggestions on activities, games, art projects, etc. that will work for one of these weeks would be stronly appreciated. I'm going to develope the lesson plan and turn it in to an activity myself, I just really need help getting started. We only have 15 minutes per activity...though they can take home the project and finish it, and even if were playing a game...they need to take something home. Please give any and all suggestions. Even if it seems silly tell me...I may be able to work with it.

child does not deal well with school some days.
bit of a yeller and runner.
he wants attention but he is just too active to walk in a line to lunch.
He hates having to walk hand in hand, but it is often the only way to keep an eye on him.
