Dragon
Green sock, button eyes, red felt cut into triangles for it's spine and some more red felt where his mouth should be. (fire breathing you see). If this is too tricky and you don't fancy cut fingers use felt pen or fabric pens for the detailing
He's a boy so should enjoy making a 'butch' puppet. These are easy to make which means less work for you.
Follow this link for ideas, it's a US site, they look quite good http://www.nickjr.com.au/site/item.asp?pageID=1&itemID=554
Remember teachers know who made the puppet, working limbs and a voice box will show you to be a fraud, have fun!

Find out who his favorite is. Cuz chances are he will have to answer the question "why is he your favorite". Then go online and put that characters name in the search enjinge and find a pic. For young grades using just material and markers work or even just paper markers and those little things they put in paper holes to hold all the papter together. They are gold and at an office supply store. They will help to move the arms and legs if you go with the paper.

How about Rapunzel who was locked up in the tower and let herself out because her hair was sooooo long.Or if you don;'t want one with extra long hair you could do Goldilocks. Or getting away from the girls how about Humpty Dumpty - an egg puppet.

I like little red riding hood. You only need a scrap of red for the cloak so it wouldn't need fancy clothes and everyone will instantly recognise her.
