Well, if it is water-soluable, such as Elmer's Glue or other washable children's glue (which is what should be used with children, since it is non-toxic) then just a wet (with water) sponge should do the trick. You can also spray some water on the table first, let it set for a few minutes to break down the glue, and then wipe it up. 409 or other solvent made for greasy kitchens is also usable, just make sure the fumes aren't too strong and that you do not spray it with children around.

Prevent the glue on tables in the first place by putting a plastic cover or wrap around the table

Goo Gone!!! The Orange Citrus spray you can get it at any Walmart in the cleaning isle but they sell the bigger version in the paint section. This is also the best for getting crayon marks off tables! Not to mention it leaves your room smelling very nice! Home Depot and Lowes carries this item also. Runs about $3 per bottle. VERY Good Stuff! I have been teaching state funded Preschool for 6 years, believe me works great! Also great at getting tape adhesive off tables (just spray it on and leave it there for about two minutes then wipe off with wet cloth).

scrape it with a blunt edge. A sharp edge will scratch the table. It should come off pretty easily. A credit card workes well for this.

Hot water (you do not need a poisonous solution) will work just fine with a coarse sponge!
