Higher Education (University +) - October 2006

I'm a senior in high school, and I have applied to a few state universities. My cousin, who is a graduate of UC Berkeley, says that going to a JC then transferring to a UC will yield a better chance of getting into Med School. Does anyone know if it really makes a difference, since it will be a transfer? I would really rather just go to a State than transferring to a UC.

Also, I want to get a BS in Nursing as an undergraduate. In order to get into Med School, will I be at a better advantage if I got a BS in Biology-Physiology, or a BS in Biology-Microbiology instead of Nursing?


Btw, my gpa right now is a 3.4, but that's because of some personal issues that happened in junior year. I'm pretty sure that I can earn around a 4.0 in college.

If I do go to a community college, I would like to go for two years, then transfer out to UC Davis. My top two choices for State is Sac State a

This guy was really annoying and had no patience. I think he was looking for trouble, but I ignored him. I wanted to give him a middle finger, but I didn't. I did nothing and acted like nothing happen, even though he was honking many times. I did my transaction at the ATM real quick and it was only take about 2 minutes. He was looking for trouble and I was sure about that. BTW, he drives sport car and he looked like a rich S.O.B., but who cares?

I want to do MBA after two years from some reputed institute like IIMs, and i m currently working as a sales manager *** IT recruiter with a company. Its a BPO kind of job(not BPO exactly) and I have to work in night shift. In more detail, I have to hire an IT consultant online for a client online.the difference between what clients pay for consultants and what actually consultant gets, is what my company gets for providing a consultants to clients. thats all what I does,All through internet and telephonic conversation with clients and consultants in USA, as my company does business in USA(but has offices in India USA,UK). I want to know whether this exp. will be counted for MBA as I want to do MBA after 2-3 years or not ;or should I change the field.I m an engineering Graduate(2006 passout). Please guide me. ThanQ

I am a senior at high school. I dont know anything about letter of recommendation. I know that I have to give teachers my resume and at least 2 weeks for them to write it. It is wise to have teachers to know you for a long time. Now say you are applying to 3 private schools. Do the teachers photocopy the same letter of have to write a different one three times? how does that work?
Im applying to USC, NYU, and Columbia.

My psychology teacher showed a video because she needed to correct papers. The class saw the video, which talked about the development of children. It showed no less than 20 naked little children which were at play, potty-training, and other activities. Their private parts were very much shown, and this movie could have had the same points come across even if they were fully clothed. Was the nudity for educational purposes, to make the children appear more natural? And is this an appropiate movie for a classroom setting?

I have graduated from the top university in Romaina with a cummulative GPA of 3.46, and 3.76 in the last two years. I have 10 papers pubished in related EE fields and have applied for a patent in EE. I have ~4 years of part-time research exp at a Silicon Valley company (work in Romania) and at a top Physics institute in Romaina. I have also held tutorials across europe, but in different fields than my desired PhD. If MIT is too 'hot' please provide the names of some good schools where I might have a better chance. My GRE is 760Q 560V and only 4AW. Would it be better to retake the GRE? Thanks

I have just graduated with a bachelors degree in nutrition and food science. I did not plan on taking this any further. Now I am taking the year off to apply to medical school. Medicine is my passion, but my chances of acceptance do not look good, so I am looking into a masters in human nutrition, and going on to get a PhD. I figure that I'll still be involved in healthcare, even if it is not my first choice. Besides teaching and research, do you know of any career opportunities in nutrition and food science with either a masters or PhD? Thank you in advance for your answers.

When a spherical cell increases in diameter from 2 micro meters to 20 micrometers, by what factor does its surface area change? By what factor does its volume changes? (The surface area of a sphere =4pi radius2, and the volume of a sphere =4/3pi readius3. Diameter = 2x radius. is this english??

and barely mentioned in the book? The book might include a small blurb on the side about it or something. Grrr.. There was a Q on my chem midterm about the earth's crust. WTH We never talked about that. I spent my time studying all the main concepts of chem that we discussed. BOOOO Earth's crust is made of like 15 elements. Like i'm gonna remember that as opposed to more important things like u kno... laws and equations and stuff.
