I am a senior at high school. I dont know anything about letter of recommendation. I know that I have to give teachers my resume and at least 2 weeks for them to write it. It is wise to have teachers to know you for a long time. Now say you are applying to 3 private schools. Do the teachers photocopy the same letter of have to write a different one three times? how does that work?
Im applying to USC, NYU, and Columbia.

Ask your teachers, they have been doing it since they became teachers. They would be the best ones to ask.

Usually letters of recommendation are sent to your guidance officer, photo copied, and sent to the appropriate schools.

OR you give the teachers an envelope with address the school has requested the teacher send the latter (and a stamp) - and the teachers sends it out themselves.

You really should start a dialogue with your teachers and guidance counselors. They would know best.

Good luck!
