The mission of Whitworth College is to provide “an education of mind and heart” through rigorous intellectual inquiry guided by dedicated Christian scholars. While neither Whitworth nor Act Six expects or requires any faith commitment from students, both are committed to exploring Christian perspectives on important issues including diversity, leadership, reconciliation and service. What impact does this commitment have on your decision to apply for the Act Six Initiative?

Whitworth’s mission had, in fact, been one of the main reasons why I decided to apply to this college. As of now, I am unsure of what religion I belong to. My situation, when it comes to faith, is very confusing. My parents are divorced, and I have always lived with my mother. Although she is Buddhist and is very keen to keeping up with the Buddhist traditions, she does not force me to choose this religion. My father, who lives clear across the nation, is Christian. I have been introduced to both these religions and both have many different beliefs. With this in mind, I have decided that rather than choosing a religion, I will expand my knowledge on religions with different perspectives. The Act Six Initiative is the perfect program that will help me with this.
Finding what I believe in is very important to me, so it was very crucial for me to apply to this program. I have already taken the first step in deciding to explore the Christian perspectives and have even begun reading the Bible to learn more. The Act Six will definitely help me in taking the other steps.

I am going to Grad school as soon as I finish college and I was wondering will it still be as fun as Undergrad, or will it be all work and no play? I enjoy being on my school's dance team and was wondering if Grad students are still involved in the same activites as they were in undergrad. I mean I am only going to be 22 when I go to Grad school and am not ready to stop having the fun I had in Undergrad, so I just wanted to know for people who went to Grad school. Did you still have fun? Party? Play sports, etc...

I'm 26, i dont' have any social life and am having a hard time finding a job because i can't speak well. In fact having gone to university, i feel the thing that came out of it was just a fat big 20,000 dollar + loan and nothing else. Example: Whenever i go visit the university, like i did yesterday because it's in the city i live..i see bunch of students they are all talkative and they have a great life, and i'm sure they can get jobs easily. It feels bad, that i'm just a failure. I can't get any job and the ones i'm applying for now are just entry level clerical/filing jobs.. it's been 4 years since i've graduated. And i'm nothing. NOTHING. so is university and college just for outgoing/talkative people?

I've got a little over 60 credits, and am considering transferring to a private school which has a better college of education than the one at my current public school. Are there many difficulties transferring credits from a public school to a private school? What are some benefits/disadvantages to going to a private university? What are some financial aid options I have to help pay for my private school tuition (I don't receive government grants or funding at my current college)? Thanks so much!
