What companies [Starbucks, McDonalds, Home Depot, etc...] do you guys know that offer the best tuition assistance programs for their employees? Either national companies or in San Diego, California....
Any experiences, or comments on how student-schedule friendly/flexible they are would be appreciated also...

Thanks

I got financial aid for my daughter to go to college, she is only 17. A refund check came in the mail addressed to the parents of.... but the check was made out to my daughter. All of her schooling, books, meals, housing had already been paid. This was left over. $278 was because of financial aid. The other $500.00 was because my husband is a professor there and she got one free class. She was on vacation, i cashed the check. I gave her $400 when she got home for books. I told her I would give her the rest after she moved in her dorm. She went straight and filed charges against me for forgery,. Just was wondering because someone told me that I could sign for my minor children until they were 18.

I have lived with my father my whole life and not seen my mother since I was 2. I have had no contact at all with her, not even letters or phone calls. Well my father passed away last spring and he never told me her social security number or any info on her. I don't know any of her family or even what state she resides in. I listed on the FAFSA application that both my parents are deceased, so I can be considered financially independant from her. I am 23 and have a child but have split custody of my child. If I was born 8 months earlier, or had full custody they would consider me financially independant anyway so how much trouble can I get in for the lie?

Are students eligible for welfare?

I know all about financial aid (which in no way meets all the costs of school even the maximum amount) I missed out on the cal grants, and bog waivers for school so I see how easy it can be to miss the help you really needed.

Many people have very low to no income that do their best but could use help don't know they are eligible for help. Personally I worked for years inbetween school not knowing I could have gotten a little help with housing in CA.

So I wondered being a starving full time student myself, can a student get help from welfare? If they have no kids? No parents?

How does welfare work, do you pay it back when you start working again? Or government gets the money back on your taxes the next tax year?

Some of us weren't born with a trust fund or inhertitance so please don't be rude, It's a serious question for those brave enough to share their experience. Thank you for answering if you can.
