Talk to the school. Schools always have ways to help you with financial aid. Also, try going through the state!

If you need aid to ATTEND school, the easiet way is to do the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. You can get that online (just google it). That will look at your financial situation and offer you grants, loans, and work study aid. In addition, look into scholarships at your school, or online at fastweb.com. Or do it the old fashioned way: wait tables at a restaurent.

You will need to fill out a FAFSA at fafsa.ed.gov. This uses you and your parent's income to determine how much your family can afford to pay for your education. Most likely you will be eligible for grants and the Subsidized Stafford Loan. The grants/loans will be in your name and you will not be penalized by your parent's credit. A grant and a Subsidized Stafford Loan will not be enough to cover all of your expenses. To get all of your school related expenses covered you will have to take out additional loans and ask for extra grants. I have listed below exactly what you NEED to do.

This is what you will NEED to do:
1) Fill out a FAFSA
2) Contact your financial aid office and get your parent to apply for the Parent Plus Loan
3) If they get turned down, you contact your financial aid office and tell them that you want an UNSUBSIDIZED Stafford LOAN
4) If you have unmet need ask for additional grants (FSEOG, your state's grant)

Fundraisers, enter competitions offering prizes for schools (usually these require at least a whole class to participate), apply for government grants. Hold a big school fete with lots of stalls with homemade things to buy. In Australia most schools hold fete's (fair's) with small rides, bbq's, jam stalls, candy stalls, bake stalls, 2nd hand book stalls etc, all things that can be donated by the school (and surrounding) community and sell them. Is always a big deal and the kids can get involved as well.

Pick up a FAFSA form at any University. Fill out the application, and send it in. They will respond back to you and let you know exactly they type of grant you quality for based on your financial situation. It is easy. On the form they will ask for the school code you plan to attend. Find out the school code from the school you plan to attend, and fill it in the box.

www.fafsa.ed.gov

Go to this website and sign up for financial aid. You need your tax return, and one of your parent's tax return. It's really easy to fill out. If you don't know how to answer a question, there's always a help link to lead you the way. But before you fill out the form, you need to sign up for a "pin" number. A pin number is a four digit number that they email you, that you use as your ID with fafsa...they consider it a signature.

www.fastweb.com

This is an awsome website. You need to fill out a really extensive form first...they question you about every detail about your life imaginable. But for a good cause. They pull up all the scholarships that you are eligable for, and lay them out for you. They're always updating.

you could do simple fundraisers such as origami stalls, lemon juice stalls, simple but not much profit... better than nothing.
