Can ANY of you give me an actual study or statistic that shows or suggests that homeschooled kids have a HARDER TIME THAN PUBLICLY EDUCATED KIDS in the areas of
*Academics
*Adjusting to social environments
*going on to college/the workforce
*etc.
I mean, we homeschoolers can and DO present facts/stats all day long that show that homeschooled children excel in all of these areas despite what the stereotypes may have you believe, yet again and again the same "blah, blah, homeschooled kids need certified teachers to do well, blah, blah, have a hard time in social situations, blah, blah" comes up.
I'm just wondering where THOSE facts are coming from, because I've certainly never come across THAT set of statistics.

I used to have teachers that told me using "have been" is not the best way to go... for example the following sentence...

"Did you know that 80% of all VET visits are checkups and could have been done by a nurse's assistant?"

b/c of "are" I feel that no matter what this should read "could be"... but lets say "Are" was replaced with "were"...

... any thoughts will be helpful. Thanks

In the Past , it was believed that the word "Babylon " ( as in the city ) meant " Gateway of the Gods" , but it states that modern scholars don't agree with this term , so what is the actual meaning of the word Babylon ? and does anybody know why the old term was rejected ?

"A patriot is anyone who loves their country" in a later sentence i use a singular word "one" with a plural pronoun "them".
My professor says the pronouns don't agree, but I do not know how to make them agree.

How can I make these sentences agree?

thanks

I wrote a character analysis on Gilgamesh. Can you correct the tenses and grammer?

Unlike today, a ruler in the time of Gilgamesh was considered to be divine and was responsible for maintaining good relations with the gods. He is two-thirds god and one-third man but is still mortal In the beginning, he is egotistical, strong, a bad king, and has no morals when it comes to the treatment of his people. He rapes women and beats men but he learns about responsibility through the death of Enkidu and his journey for eternal life. He builds the great walls of Uruk and builds a temple, both of which are acts positively affecting the lives of his people.

OK, first I don't want to offend anyone, it's purely just a question I have had for a long time. I have 3 uncles one that still is a fire chief, and the other two have been retired for many years. I don't see any of them very offten, so I can't ask them.

Question is why when firemen are at home (not on call) wear their fire department t-shirts? I know you are proud that you save lives everyday, (and you should be....congrats to you) but I don't see other types of careers where their t-shirts. Doctors don't walk around in scrubs or hospital t-shirts that say, I'm a surgeon who works at......and they save lives too.

Again, please don't leave a ton of negitive feedback, It's purely just a question.

And if your not a firemen, do you see firemen do this?

Do you think only blacks and minorities should use it and not whites or do you think nobody should use it? Do you think rap artists and their usage of the word promotes it?

Kanye West: Great rapper and I love all of his music but I do not agree with him or anyone using the "N" word. Tell me what you think! And this is a serious matter so please control all ignorance! Thank You

So, I got an F in "Women's Playwrights". I am a psychology major and was just taking this class because we had to take a women's issues class. So I got an F.

You can re-take the class and replace the F, I know. But, the problem is that I am supposed to graduate with a bachelors in December 08. This class isn't being offered again until 2010!!!! WTF???

What can I do???

I am currently 25 years old and hold the position of Assistant Director of Global Sales and Marketing for a small-mid sized Publishing company. In my two years of full time work experience, I have had much more responsibility and growth than most people 3 years out of college.

I graduated Temple University magna with a 3.56 cumulative GPA and a 3.93 major GPA. I have also scored a 620 on my GMAT.

Along with my work experience and academics, a factor that makes me a unique candidate is my international exposure. I have lived and studied in Europe, volunteered in Asia, traveled outside the USA for my current job, and I have visited 40+ countries on all continents (with the exception of Antarctica).

I plan on applying to MBA programs for Fall 2009. I would like to concentrate on International Business/Management, or something similar. What programs would be a good fit? My chances being accepted to top programs? I have not ruled out programs in Europe or Canada. Thanks!

One of my second graders did not return from recess. The school security came to my room and said the student had purposely tried to trip one of the recess monitors who is an elderly woman with a cane.

I didn't know what to say. I felt really awkward. The security said the student is in serious trouble and they were going to try and call her Mom.

An hour later, I saw the officer in the hall and he said the administration is going to take care of it and something "Serious and heavy" was coming.

I'm scared for the kid. What she did was wrong, but she's only in second grade. What are they going to do to her? Suspension?

Just so YOU know where I stand on this, common usage today of an otherwise nice word, annoys me no end. Whenever I'm watching an old movie, for example, and there's a reference to GAY (happy), it jars on my nerves because I've been conditioned to think of the word in as denoting sexual preferences. There are lots of other examples in language(s), as well. Bastards!
