So, I got an F in "Women's Playwrights". I am a psychology major and was just taking this class because we had to take a women's issues class. So I got an F.

You can re-take the class and replace the F, I know. But, the problem is that I am supposed to graduate with a bachelors in December 08. This class isn't being offered again until 2010!!!! WTF???

What can I do???

This is probably the situation: Taking another women's studies course will fulfill the requirement, but it won't erase the F. Only repeating the same course can do that. So talk with the department chair and with the professor who taught the course about taking it over on independent study. Or possibly, if there are enough other students interested in taking it in the next year and the professor is willing, the chair could add a section to the schedule.

You either have to go with Bluto Blutarsky (from Animal House) and his seven year plan or graduate with an F which will mess up your GPA, but if your grades in psychology are good and you do well on the graduate school entry exams that F isn't going to stop you. It might mean that you are not a women's playwright, but perhaps a darn good psychologist.
I got an F in swimming myself, it had nothing to do with my degree and it was a moot point. If you are still having trouble getting into a grad school because of it, you might have to wait till 2010; one thing you could maybe do is to talk with your academic advisor and see if there is any other class that could be substituted to make up for the F as it might have been your fault for getting the F, but the chance to make it up should come before 3 years, especially an upper level class. There may be a way around it to appeal, start with your counselor and see what steps you need to do; sometimes you'll find people who will work with you.

Take a different class. Or wait two years to graduate.

Or talk to the professor about getting the grade changed. They might change it to an incomplete and let you make up some work.

Otherwise, you should just suck up the F and take a different class.

Meg has a good idea - perhaps you can do independent study under that same course number. Check to make sure it wasn't a topics course that is offered sooner with a different topic.

That's the problem with electives. You often don't really have the choice of retaking them. You can ask if at your school a different course filling the same requirement could be used to replace the F, but often the best you can do is to to average the grades.

Yes talk to someone and see what else can be taken in its place. Go to the Psychology department ASAP and see what your options are. But the problem is, if the class is different from this one, you may have an F on your transcript.

Talk to the dean of the subject or the head of your department and see what the solution is they made you take another class to replace it or make up for the grade. Mabey the teacher wil give you a No grade.

Talk to the adviser about taking another class that is in the same area or section that is about women's issues or one that will substitute. Talk to them they can help you arrange something, this happened to my daughter. But she had to take to glasses because they canceled the class she wanted to repeat. Check it out really good.====

Talk to the professor and/or head of the department to see if you can do an independent study to replace the grade or see if there is another class you can substitute for the one you failed.

Your best bet is to go to the Dean of your program. You may be able to take some other kind of class but they'll know what to do...also I don't think electives like that count towards your GPA

Is it already over can you withdraw? Or do an incomplete? Have you looked at the summer schedule? Have you looked at other nearby colleges that can transfer the class? Ask a counselor.
