Is there such a thing as a "real life" dictionary at the college/adult level? Words that you might hear while watching movies, or as an adult while at work. To the vast majority of adults, these words are not difficult, but a teenager is less likely to know them. Can anyone recommend where to look? I am 26, I went to high school but I did not go to college. Just the other day I had to look up "condescending" because I didn't know the definition of it!! (Yet, the vast majority of adults would...)

Doesn't quality as One Of The Top 10 Burning Questions of the Decade, but it **does** confuse me. (Surprised any children ever become literate, with the sometimes-bizarre rules that English has...)

Can anyone explain the reason behind the variance?

The slope is -2 and the y-intercept is (0,4).
I know that you have to write the equation of the line as :
y = -2x +4. or y=mx + b(right?)
But the next step is to graph it.
I understand how to graph the (0,4)
but how do you graph -2 (doing the rise and run) do you graph it as -2/1 or am i totally wrong.

Should liberal professors be made to look stupid when they are wrong all the time? i have seen some discuss legal cases with no real understanding and mistating the case. and blaming republician justices for it without realizing that there were republicans on boht sides. they also say how great afriican gov't are when everyone knows some are a shame. Should you at that moment stand up and call them a fraud or should you just ask them to futher explain and laugh as they stammer over their words as they lie. Is this a time for a cultural revolution like china had where the people reported their teachers who didn't know what they were talking about and removed.
plus why are professors mostly liberal? is it because their reaoning skills would not work in the real world?
