I resided in Michigan not long ago. Rather, a year ago and moved to Cali. I remember when I was 17 and opened an bank account...ahhhhhhh! those days!

Anyhow, I would suggest opening a bank account that is closest to your house. However, if you dislike the banks that is closest to you, I reccommend you open an account with Comerica Bank.

Comerica Bank is not so bad. I was with them and I am still with them with an account balance of I think $28.00. I haven't had time to close the account since I moved here.

Good luck!

Today, you can open checking accounts on line. I recently found one with Bank of America that does not have any charges.

Also, call your local banks and see who has the best deal: No charges. Free checks. Interest accrues on balance. Small credit line attached to account so checks won't bounce.
