Im on summer break now and I want to make it fruitful by reading books that would put me on the right pedestal of being "prepared". I'm from the Philippines and studying high school here is not that extensive and we dont concentrate on novels that much. Besides that I'm pursuing a business degree, nonetheless I really want to appear prepared, reliable and of course smart.

I'm just not sure if I get the English degree first then work on a the teaching part or what would work best. I really would just like more info in general. And I'm interested in mainly just the Literature side of things, not so much with the general English language teaching.

I am editing a manuscript for a woman before it goes to a publisher, and she starts several sentences with "but". Is it just my personal taste that is telling me that sounds awful? I am unsure of whether or not to include a comment about starting sentences with the word "but", or just to leave it be.

Protestants and Catholics fought each other in many bloody battles. Catholics massacred thousands of Huguenots in Paris, France.
How did they finally settle their differences?
How do religious wars end?
Do they just go on for thousands of years?

I'm currently attending H.S, and we have to get at least 40 service learning hours, in other words, volunteering. I got my hours, but now i have to develop a 1 to 2 page essay around 3 words that would best describe my volunteering experience.

Can someone please help me pick 3, good & meaningful words and how would i be able to build on those 3 words, what could i talk about?

Additionally, if this helps, i would just like to add that i volunteered at the anti-cruelty society and i found it to be very fun. i love working with animals and it was a great experience.

All help is GREATLY appreciated!!

In Pennsylvania, the ESL Program Specialist License doesn't become effective until one completes another vaild Instuctional I or II license. I am pretty sure this is not the same in every state. Does anyone have information about this? Also, in states where another certificate is not required, which tests are required for the ESL license? I have a master's degree in TESOL but am unable to teach in PA without another certification. What do I need to do? Your help is greatly appreciated.

in english you can't use a diphtong before a doble consonant ( I'm talking about pronunciation). That's the reason why in MASS you pronounce /mas/
GLASS you pronounce /glas/
PULL you pronounce /pul/

There are a few exceptions for this rule. For instance in:
ROLL you pronounce /roul/
GROSS you pronounce /grous/

Can you think of any other word which share this feature?

Thanks for answering!!!!
regards!!!!
