It seems like such a simple word...I notice there's a ton of "how do i loose weight" questions on here. What could that possibly say about the education Americans are getting?

The state of education?
Total disarray...what we are witnessing are the future members of the welfare rolls who were not able to get employment because they lacked basic grammar, spelling and other communication skills required in the work place.

You are sadly mistaking intelligence with spelling. Lose and loose are a common error, and one that spell checker cannot catch.

because lose sounds like "loooooze"

so loose would be natural. plus, two o's are easy to type in a row, if their hands slips, they type Loose1!!11!

Another big one is people who are unable to tell the difference between "your" and you're"...

Ok according to the word that you are spelling is
"L-o-o-s-i-n-g it's an oppsite of wining yes because
they both have an (Ing ) added on like Teaching"
