Education & Reference - 6 March 2007

I'm thinking about taking their workshop in order to be able to teach it. I am already a certified music teacher (K-12) and I wonder if this is something worthwhile for me or if it will all be repeat information. Any idea how much they pay their teachers?

Well, at school i am like a social reject. In my tutor group anyway. Usually i am completley ignored, but if girls feel like having a laugh or pulling a prank they'll do it on me. It's like i have a sign on my head saying "hey i don't care, i have no feelings, come laugh about me!" I'm not that ugly i don't think! The thing is i can't stand up for myself. girls in my year (year 9, were 13 +14) have boyfriends and do drugs and get drunk and im like "hang on wait a sec were 14 don't screw up your life now!" i try to kill them with kindness, like if they need help, or need to borrow some money for lunch, ill give it to 'em. And if thier on thier own thier not to bad, but when they're together thier all giggles and stuff! And i'm like... what is thier to laugh about!? Please help guys!

ive been thinking of dropping out since the beggining of this year. im a sophmore when i really should be a senior graduating this year. Ive told my parents but they just got mad and forced me to go to school. I get bad grades because of my truancy.pretty smart when it comes down to assignments. there are a total of 45 slope questions for homework, 15 of each of the follwoing kind. School was dismissed early due to weather, and the Math teacher was unable to get to how we do this...but she still expects us to get it done. We have learned the slope formula, but i am not sure how to put in each numbers in the correct position:

question #1-
Find the value of K so that the line joining the points (-2, 7) and (3, K) is horizontal

Graphically, i found K=7, but we have to show it in algebraic form.

question #16-
Find the value of K so that the line joining points (1, -3) and (k, 5) is vertical.

Same situation as above, i found K=1 but have no clue how to do it algebraically.

question #31-
If the line joining points P(3,5) and Q(1,2) is paralell to line joining
R(7,K) and S(5,6), What is the value of K?

This one, i have no idea how to do at all!

I'm a mom to a bright 3yo (in January). I hadnt planned on HS so early but she is leading me on this path. We have worked on some things the past months(Singapore math 1a/1b and motor skills) to get into the school groove and I want to start LifePacs this coming school year.
I have not decided if we want to start with K or if we should go to 1st grade. The assessment online is 3rd grade and above. I just don't want to buy something too easy/hard for her. The biggest obstacle at this point is she can not read/write, nor do I expect her to.

Mastered
Recognize all letters and numbers up to 29
Counts to 40 alone, 100 with help at 50,60,70etc
Colors/shapes, some 3D IE. pyramid, cube
Letter sounds
Sounds out 3 letter words
Sight word families -AT, -IT, -AN
Spell her and her sisters name
Sequencing, sorting, grouping
I must be missing stuff.
Any suggestions on which set we should start off with, K or 1st. I want to keep up with her but I don't want to push her.

My son attends a very nice Christian school. I have one problem, though. When he was first admitted we were told that they followed the same guide as the public schools, at least for the basic subjects, including math.
I am concerned that my son's teacher is lagging in teaching math. I saw some paperwork from friends of his who attend public school and they seem to adhead of what she is teaching. Plus, she teaches it very basically. I work with him at home to learn more advanced procedures but I would just like to see if anyone can give the input as to what their fourth grader is currently learning in math. Thanks.

I'm a junior in high school and i take 3 hard classes right now: Honors English 11, Physics, and Pre Cal. I work part time after school, so by the time i get home which is around 7:45-8:00pm, I am too tired to even think about doing homework. If I do get up and do it I never finish it because I start watching T.V. or end up going to sleep. Because of this, I'm failing 2 classes. I really would like some tips on what I should do. I'm trying to get into college next year so I really want to do good this year. I don't want to quit my job because I REALLY need the money. So please share some tips so I can tackle this problem.
