it's about paying the national debt that occured after the American Revolution. alexander hamilton had to choose how to repay all the bonds that were issued. however, so much money had been printed that it lost almost all its value. so, people were selling their bonds to speculators for less than the regular price.
there were three ways to pay it off:
1. pay them at face value. the speculators would get a huge profit
2. market value - theyd get the price they thought theyd get
3. discrimination, thought of by madison.

number three is the one i'm having a hard time understanding.my packet says "his plan was iamed at helping the original holder of the bond, who had sold it. he would get the difference between face value (the $100) and market value ($20). the original holder who kept the bond would get face value and the speculator would get market value."
so does the original holder get the difference between the two numbers or does he get face value! it contradicts! please help!

I heard some depressing news today. I was told that you have to have good credit to sit for the bar. Is this true. Now my credit isn't bad but it isn't the greatest either. If this is true then I don't know about even applying to law school. I probably won't get any loans due to my credit so how can I pay for school? I have considered finishing my nursing degree instead of changing my major to political science like I was going to. Work a couple of years as a nurse and then apply to law school. That way I might be able to save some money. Has anyone done this and what are my chances of being able to sit for the bar? If I go all the way through law school and then can't take the bar exam then I don't need to try to be a lawyer right?? HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been debating on what career to lean towards. I still have plenty of more years to think but it's never to early. Well currently I go to Penn State University and majoring in finance. My dad seems to think the top choice would be the analyst side while i've been looking more into the adviser/planner side or maybe even accountant. My dad strongly feels that analyst make much more money and live a better life because its not as stressful as the planner b/c its not as heavily based on sales and dealing with the public. Also i've also be thinking about what would be best afterwards...masters in finance, mba, cfa, etc...any opinions? Thanks
